Pioneer DJ just launched its DJM-S3 battle mixer for Serato DJ. It’s a two-channel mixer for Serato DJ that comes with three-band EQs and filter knobs onboard, switchable mic and Aux inputs, a Magvel crossfader with curve and hamster switches, and two phono and line inputs for hooking up turntables or DJ media players. It inherits the sound card of the flagship DJM-S9 mixer, and it’s go ta USB jack for connecting to your laptop.

It’s also “Serato DVS Enabled”, meaning you can use timecode vinyl to spin with music files on your laptop running Serato DJ. You don’t need to purchase the Serato DVS add-on, though you will need to purchase the timecode vinyl separately.

If you’ve been following Pioneer DJ lately, you’ll immediately spot that this looks identical to the DJM-250MK2, which we reviewed a few months back. The only exception is that this works with Serato DJ, while the DJM-250MK2 is for Rekordbox DJ. The DJM-S3 is also more expensive than the DJM-250MK2 (US$380).

We’ve not had a chance to see or hear it in person yet, but if it’s anything like the DJM-250MK2, then Serato DJ users looking for a new two-channel battle mixer will be in for a treat.
