Traktor Pro 2
Native Instruments just released a new, free update to Traktor Pro 2 that opens up Stems to all Traktor users.

Native Instruments just released an update of Traktor Pro 2 that finally brings Stems to all Traktor users. For the first time, Stem files will now be displayed as four individual stem tracks in Traktor Pro 2 software through Stem View, letting any Traktor user see and mix with Stems, even though they’re using a third-party controller.

The free update will also bring a Stems mapping for Native’s http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2013/10/review-video-traktor-kontrol-s4-mk2/“>Traktor Kontrol S4 controller, giving folk who have it instant hands-on control of Stem decks. In addition, Native Instruments is giving away 65 free Stems tracks for download, as well as a 25% off storewide sale of Stems files on partner sites like Beatport, Juno, and Traxsource.

The beginning of the “Future of DJing”?

It’s high time that Traktor opened up the Stems floodgates to everyone using the software. While tight integration with Native’s Traktor S8, D2, and S5 made using Stems easy, giving all Traktor users access to Stems is the forward push it needs to initiate the process of widespread adoption. Not limiting it to just certain Native Instruments hardware too will make it easier to work into an interested DJ’s existing set-up.

We’ve done a review of Stems before and have DJed with the format already, and we really do think it’s an exciting step forward for digital DJing and Traktor. With the ability for people to now use it with any hardware, and 65 Stems tracks available for free so anyone can try it, maybe this will be the kick it needs to reach a lot more users in the coming weeks.
