The Tháng 4: Has Pioneer DJ Gone Too Far This Time?

UPDATE: This was of course an April Fool! We’d like to thank our student John Zealand-Doyle for coming up with the idea and the image. 👍🤣

“We figured out that many DJs never use both jogwheels together,” says the leaked press release for the Tháng 4, a surprise new DJ/production controller that Pioneer DJ is apparently going to launch today.

“So we replaced the real estate we saved by only having one jogwheel with an extra eight pads per side and a whole host of reimagined controls.

One jogwheel actually makes sense, when you think about it.

“With two crossfaders, four decks, 16 performance pads, a 10″ screen, and compatibility from launch with Rekordbox and Serato for DJing, plus Ableton Live with full grid mode support for producers, the Tháng 4 blurs the line between DJing and production like nothing before it.”

Wow. Of course, we’ll let you know more as soon as we get the official PR, but meanwhile…

First Thoughts

I really don’t know what to say this time. Did anyone else think “Minion”? Also, what’s with the strange names, Pioneer DJ? First the Opus Quad, then the Tháng 4?

Pioneer is known for their big name partnerships – are we witnessing their first ever Minions collab?

We looked it up on Google and all we could find was that “Tháng 4” means “April” in Vietnamese. Curiouser and curiouser.

What do you think? Let us know in the comments! Meanwhile, here’s the Reddit post we got this from.
