Danny PParticipant
What method do you suggest for removing them? I don’t want to break them. One of the tips that I did find was to use nail art paint because it resists the body’s natural oils and it comes with a small brush. I don’t really want to buy chroma caps because of the price and I’m fine with the knobs I have. Plus I’d rather DIY it. It makes it more personal. Unless I found a really good deal lol
Danny PParticipantCan’t hurt if users share their experiences with different software on Windows 10. I’m not making the leap until i hear the “all clear”.
Danny PParticipantUse the gear you know and don’t worry what other DJs use or think. It’s not their opinions that matter, it’s the crowd’s. The DDJ SR is a pretty serious controller don’t go too far out of you comfort zone for your first gig

It comes down to what you need (outputs, jog wheels, performance pads, etc.)
Danny PParticipantThat’s a lot of reading above but let me add my 2 cents. I like the idea and would probably use your services especially a year ago when I didn’t have a light setup. My suggestion would be to not do the second event free thing. It will just postpone you making money. Also I would increase the amount you’re charging a bit. Like double it. Those lights aren’t cheap (at least in my tax bracket) and you don’t want to sell yourself short. Try getting into some wedding gigs and maybe use both light stands and you can spread them out more. That’s just my thoughts on the matter take them as you will.
Danny PParticipantI usually try to get there 30 minutes before because that’s how long it takes for me to get music coming out of speakers. It’s nice for people to have a little background music while they set up. Most people are on “island time” here so the start time ends up being not the actual start time. But as a rule the earlier the better unless you’re to early to actually get in and set up.
Danny PParticipantHere’s the advice that you’re going to get so let me save everyone some space.
Rent out better quality gear (Yamaha, Alto, Qsc,, Mackie, etc.) until you can afford your own. You get what you pay for.My personal advice, though, if you’re set on buying is to buy a used pair. Do some research and you can get a great deal if you’re careful. But buying no name kit can be a bad time.
Danny PParticipantMost controllers are supported by more than one software. Pretty much anything works with VDJ. With Traktor devices work but nothing will work as well as Native Instruments’ own gear with it. But you can get a mapping for most things. The G2V has Traktor support, though I have never actually tried Traktor with it so your mileage may vary.
Danny PParticipantIf you’re using VDJ, the Gemini G2v is reliable I’ve been gigging with it for over a year and a half and haven’t had a problem.
Danny PParticipantDid you copy over the Virtual DJ database file?
Danny PParticipantI’ve bought this for my G2V
SKB 19 x 13 x 3 Inches Controller Soft Case (1SKB-SC1913) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0063OSHVQ/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_oCAzvb0KSME5WIt fit perfectly except I had to cut out a piece of the foam for the knobs at the front. It was actually around 35USD when I bought it. The reviews are pretty good and it works for me. I usually put my controller on top of it to give it that extra height.
Danny PParticipantI highly doubt you’ll need a sub
Danny PParticipantI’ve used RCA splitters to use 2 sets of speakers before. Everything should work fine.
Danny PParticipantVintage is spot on as usual. Start using the set up you’re going to use immediately. I wouldn’t be worried about blue screening, I’d be more concerned with over heating depending on ventilation and how hot the dj booth is. Practice practice practice. I’d say check what startup programs you don’t need but since you’re not a serious Windows user ID advise against it. Uninstall anything named “toolbar” run a deep virus scan over night and you should be good. Test the set up before you leave. I hope you knock it out of the park!
