I think the general rule of getting payed in what ever situation is to know your own value.I won’t even go out to a gig unless i know that i am getting payed enough to,if every single possible concievable thing that can go wrong goes wrong,i can break even. But hey that’s me.Again i say that’s my case,i’m from a country where having an opinion and your own stance is valued highly, might not be quite the same everywhere.

Esentially it seems to be that Nicknames= DJ Names lately,so yeah safest route,it’s how i got mine.Always wore a black neckerchief around my neck, still do,people called me black rag so i stuck with it.The sad fact that i was treated like a rag as a kid by others adding to the names deepness.

Yeah, honestly i think i’ll stick to what i know then and what i’ve been doing, which is electronic dance music and when someone asks me if i could do hip hop i’ll jus say no.Cause at this point i’m not very interested in hip hop personally plus it’d be too much for my head to have to learn more,at least at this time.

I ment no disrespect to hip hop DJs around the world,i have major respect for every successful DJ out there.I’m just right now banging my head about wetther to bother learning it or not cause chances are i might get asked to do hip hop at some point in my life,to spite favoring electronic genres.I’m just trying to figure a way around it for me,and as far as samples go,i’m not a big fan of just playing samples,if i have to use a sample i’d rather use it in some more creative way.

Personally,i’m always in ”behind the decks” mode so to say.Even when im casually listening im always counting the beats thinking what track could be mixed into that or what that specific track could be mixed into.Lyrics wise i rarely consider the lyrics them selves unless they are specifically offensive to either a race or gender or sexual orientation,if it isn’t specifically offensive to any of those, even if it has ”naughty” wording and all that i don’t shy from it.Oh and in my honest opinion i think fun factor is something that’s always taken into consideration by all,you just notice it less when behind the decks cause you’re focusing on a lot more things then when you’re just listening.

I’d say if DJing doesn’t end up taking over your life you shouldn’t call your self a True DJ,you might still be a DJ but only as a hobby.

I’ve learned the basics of playing just about every single instrument an averige person can name, played guitars[aqustics and electrics] for about 2 years and got tired of my left hand fingers suffering so i moved onto Accordion, actually went to music school for the accordion.Everything else i was self taught but the accordion i actually got lessons for and am still actively practicing playing, when im not at the pc with my mixtrack infront of me.

There’s a few of these so bear with me.

The thing that i adore about Digital DJing is that to spite the fact that both my parents are retired and i work only part time I CAN still afford to get myself that Numark Mixtrack that i’ve come to adore over the one month of having it.Plus to add to that one of the things that always had me excited about Digital DJing is that fact that i can just put my laptop into my backpack, put the controller next to it and i’m set to go.And i mean no offence to the old school DJs or disrespect to their gear with the next one,but the fact that i don’t have to do an hours worth of wiring just to get setup is a major major plus,it’s four things to connect,a memory stick into it’s place, open the program and go.

[Pardon me if i got some spelling wrong English is my 3rd language and it’s mostly self taught]
