Hmm, how i learned to DJ, a very Odd question that i can’t help but want to answer.

Two fold answer though for me, like I said Odd.

As someone who use to do more traditional style of mixing i have to give credit to the teacher of many Ellaskins.
But as someone who currently delves into the dark arts of controllerism, and the black magic of Only Remix Deck sets, i was inspired by the Mad Mr. Zach and have spent the last year or so of my life learning the skills of performing.

That’s the thing,i don’t generally use CD’s,most of my music is on a USB Memory stick. So one could say i’m a rather untraditional traditionalist, like i don’t use FX often but i do use them,i don’t have a scratch routine but i still scratch from time to time during a mix,i don’t make my entire mix into a blend but it is my dominant style. So i guess i’m a jack of all trades as far as DJing,so i kind of need a unit to reflect that.

And here i was leaning towards getting the Aero for t’s low profile.Guess i should try and find a way to Demo the units and then decide.

I don’t do a lot of FX and such, nor do i do a whole lot of beat juggeling,i actually mix more old school Chicago movement DJing style,so the whole, losing possibilities, not a big thing for me.Plus i’ve had people try to steal my laptop which also makes me want an all in one unit.

I’d actually more then likely improv the entire gig with dance music instrumentals and voice samples from eps of the series.

I need three more pairs of arms to adequately facepalm to these guys.I’ve heard of and heard bad DJing,as well as did it for about the first 2-4 months when i started DJing, but DAYUM,i was never that bad. That was quite literally criminal,we need to make DJ S.W.A.T. Force for these types of situations and give them full power to lynch then DJ properly.I’ve thrown out DJs out of the booth at my friends club where i’m management who’ve DJd far better.

Black Rags Scrambled Eggs Mega Mix

    Ingredients

6-10 Eggs (Fresh Eggs are best, and i mean fresh from the hen house)
    200 g of fresh cheese,young 38%-40% milk fat cheese
    20 g of ground’ Jalapenos
    salt and pepper to taste

    Instructions

Melt down a mixture of cheese and ground’ jalapenos in a pan then add eggs and stir till the mass in homogenous.
Serve with onions, garlic, more jalapenos, tomattos or cucumbers, and of course, salt and pepper it to taste, then add some more pepper just for that black rag edge.A nice vodka goes down really nice with this. And it’s a meal you get to enjoy twice! >;D

Just to note there, that’s going into personal pref, you might find prep work tedious in this situation,i might, and in fact do,find it a lot of fun.Another thing is,you’re talking about 1000 tracks, that’s a collection,i was talking about 2 or 3 or 10 tracks at a time as you buy them,i highly doubt you’d buy 1000 tracks off of iTunes or on CD’s.But hey i’ve heard of wierder thing so you might

I do agree with the point that bring your own gear is a better system for clubs and DJ’s,but hey we’re thinking about this a lot and very rationally and logically.Do most owners put this much thought into it before opening a club and buying the gear?Chances are no.Do we wish they did?Yes,we do,doesn’t mean it’ll change any time soon, though i do hold the hope that it will over time.

A friend of mine approached me yesterday,he’s opening a bar and wanted me to give him an opinion on what he should get for the bar DJ gear wise aside from the regular sound system.I told him to just get a basic two channel mixer.I think in the long run if bars wanna get their own setup they’re better off with just a two channel mixer that way two Digital DJ’s can switch between each other without a break in the music.

On the topic of prep work that Chuck raised, how is it that you find it hard to prep for all possibilities yet i don’t?Different softwares do save info in different ways but if you prep for all possibilities straight from the get go i.e. scan the tracks in all software and save everything you need at the first available moment, there’s no need for it to be a hassle.I think that in the end Chuck it comes down to the DJ.

The bars around my town do make it a point that the DJ use their gear,to me that’s completely understandable.I personally try not to bring my gear unless the club doesn’t have their own.And from what i have seen bars around my town don’t generally have ”their” DJ’s,they don’t hire them as residents it’s sort of on a gig basis, which to me seems completely stupid but hey it’s their money.

The thing that really set me off on this is that the DJ’s around my town that are moaning about this are DJ’s that pretty much use the same controller but just a different program.
