Feedback: this should be posted in the “Your Mixes & Music” section 😉

IMHO fan page is the way to go. You can easily get 25 friends to like it for the URL, the number of people willing to press “like” will be more real than the number of people accepting your friend request (passive vs active involvement).. and if you connect the page with your profile you can easily post from a smartphone or whatever 🙂

You are right, I didn’t clarify.. the thing is that I took the CDJ800 mk2 I use a lot and compared it to most controllers I could find here.. S4 (jogs too small), VCI-100 (too light), VCI-100 mk2 (better but still need more “body”), MC6000 (plasticky feel, small).. all in all, I agree there are controllers that feel more like CDJs but there are non that feel JUST LIKE CDJs or better (excluding the NS7 and similar) when it comes to scratching. This is still just my opinion and my experience 🙂

IMHO, most CDJ jogs ARE better than controller jogs. Bigger, heavier and just more pleasant to use in that manner.
Also, doesn’t latency cause a (small) problem on controllers?

This might become a weekly show.. this Thursday, 16:00-17:00 site time on http://www.crossfm.org I’ll be doing another mix, this time on CDJs and a little less vocal and uplifting but a little more funky and sexy.
    🙂
Of course, I’ll post the mix when I upload it, this is just a ‘premiere’ 🙂

I found another possible set in the form of Numark Red Wave, if anyone has tried them I hear the reviews on them are pretty good.

I got the Numarks a few months ago, they are pretty good for the price.. Looking great and really comfortable, although the sound is questionable: highs become muffled and mids become muddy way too easily (but nice strong bass helps you a lot). Also, my pair broke last weekend, they are really sturdy but have one big weak point (the same spot where most headphones break).

To be honest, the two watches thing got me wondering too.. guess I’ll be monitoring this thread 🙂

    inb4 nothing

Two watches? I wear zero watches 🙂
As for my style, I dress casually: skater sneakers, jeans, a t-shirt with something funny or DJ-related (for example my lovely Digital DJ Tips tee) and maybe a minor detail like a wristband or a naked lady.. nothing fancy like a giant mouse head (show off!)

    Possible? Very.
IMHO every digital DJ should practice using only the laptop just in case of emergency..

Why not mapping them to something else! 🙂

That’s a valid point.. I have my jogs mapped to control browsing under one modifier and some chained fx under a few others… Works like a charm for that, atm I am trying to map them to control the echo/freeze thing. Of course, still keeping them “vanilla” too 🙂

IMHO the best thing is to know how to handle your mixing with jogs and without them.. versatility and preparedness to any situation 🙂
So be it TTs, CDJs, controllers with jogs, X1 or even LPD8 controllers, keyboard and mouse, shouting binary into a payphone.. it’s all good if the good vibe zone is there 🙂

You don’t necessarily have to remap the controller completely, it is sufficient just to have one control free and you can easily map two extra decks (duplicate command, change target device).. For example I keep my (software) master level on the same value at all times so I can use that pot to map a modifier: when it’s on 0 (closed) then the controller controls decks A and B and when it’s on 128 (open) the same commands apply for decks C and D.. so it isn’t too much trouble to map a controller to 4 decks this way 🙂
Of course, controllers with intentionally blank buttons are even simpler to re-map in this fashion.

Try Ultrasone DJ1 Pro.. amazing sound and very comfortable. Only problem is that they (IMHO) don’t look too sturdy.
