    Heh, I just packed up my trusty Akai LPD8 for tonight’s gig.. I use that little buddy to help me bring up the awesome levels to the roof and drive the party bus better into the realms of audio pleasure..

    This little guy’s *.tsi goes like this:
    -bank one controls the cue point selection, hot cues 2-5 on both decks;
    -bank two controls the deletion of the same hotcues;
    -bank three controls the fx units one and two (pads: next effect on effect slot 1, effect 1 on, effect 2 on, effect 3 on; knobs: fx bank dry/wet, effect slot 1 amount, effect slot 2 amount, effect slot 3 amount)
    -bank four controls fx units three and four in the same manner.

    I do plan to replace it because the knobs are not high enough for my taste.. X1, here I come.

    OLD: a DJ is a DJ
    NEW: everyone is a DJ

    DJ Mirror 😉

    Well once I saw a dude whose workflow is: play an entire song (no matter if it’s a 20-minute remix), play the deck B song right after the song on deck A finishes (no matter if the deck A song has a fade out, he waits for the end..) plus he was jumping from dubstep to pop and from minimal to almost ska music all the time.. But I learned a lot from him: what not to do.

    (Don’t they just live in your wallet anyway? Would your wallet not normally be with you?)

    Condoms in a wallet are a bad idea, at least for people who carry their wallets in their pants pockets (like me) because body heat can damage them.. and also, how can you fit a box into your wallet? 😉

    Thanks for the input 🙂
    Last night I did the same thing with the “the future” thing and I tried to halve the intro of the Soulbrothers track.. it worked pretty nice (if I upload that part of the live mix I’ll link it here ;))

    Thanks for listening 🙂
    Yeah, the intro vocals are there too long, I agree and the transition to Warp was weird.. I’ll keep it in mind and improve in the future 😉

    The club that wanted me to make the promo is going for a retro electro night so that’s why I am using those songs..

    Thanks again for the feedback, I really appreciate it.

    Yeah, the filter thing is cool.. I like to use it this way: track A is in the mix, filter at 0, track B is beatmatched and going.. I turn the filter on track B to -100 and up the volume on it (still nothing gets out because filter cuts it all out) and then turn both filters into the plus.. crowd loves it to 🙂

    Google is your friend for those 🙂 There are several lists of all processes along with explanations and consequences of turning them off. Take a look around the internet, optimization guides are plentiful.

    First off, which OS are you using? In the case of Win XP, there is a program called nLite, you can use it to remove all unneeded components from your XP install.. after you install it, you can kill a LOT of processes and services that are unneeded and you can remove a fair amount of components. After that, it’s just a matter of defragging and keeping your laptop clean and I guarantee it won’t crash on you.

    Oh but it gets better! Last night, half-empty club, bad night, only few groups of people inside.. one dude comes up to me and asks me “hey man can you play some David Guetta?” and I am like what the.. I have “Memories” playing at that moment. I just go “yeah, sure” and he leaves. After that I play that new song “Sweat” and see the dude glancing towards me every half minute.. so okay, I put on “Love is gone” after a few tracks and still no reaction from the dude, he starts looking a bit angry.. then I give in and cut in “The world is mine” and finally he recognizes the track and gives me thumbs up and all that..

    Well I got into remixing a little bit but I am still too “green” or too much of a perfectionist to let something with my name on it get out into the world.. A “meh” live mix or set isn’t too important atm but a bad remix would be something I wouldn’t put on the net. So, I’ll share my stuff in a few months/years 🙂
