DJ YakaParticipant
Up until 6 months ago, I was part of a DJ CD pool. This involved me receiving CD’s every month and ripping them to my hard drive. It hit me one day that I was only actually using approximately 30-40% of the music I was paying for.
Since then I have switched to a digital record pool, and I am not only saving money on the subscription fees, but I am now playing 90%+ of the music I download.
DJ YakaParticipantI agree with you on that Si, just think it’s a bit weird how they have targeted Traktor and no other software
DJ YakaParticipantJust read the article….. hahah, I can’t believe they have actually came out and said this!
I DJ with Traktor and I also DJ with a Pioneer CDJ setup. Sometimes I even combine the both via Traktor scratch.
This just makes no sense to me at all, it has to be a publicity stunt, and if it is, then it is working…..as they say “no publicity is bad publicity”. I mean some of the biggest names in the industry use Traktor.
DJ YakaParticipantCongrats man… sounds like you couldn’t have asked for much more out of a first gig
DJ YakaParticipantif you don’t ask…. you don’t get
DJ YakaParticipantI personally think mixing it up is a good idea, but it does depend on the venue and the gig that you are doing. Just remember to keep reading the crowd and don’t get sucked in to playing a 100% pre planned set list.
As long as the crowd loves it … that’s the main thing 🙂DJ YakaParticipantColtrane09 ye i love them, i did look at the 8″ version when i purchased them, but for the space i had to play with, the 8″ would have been pushing it.
the 5″ are brilliant for what i need, the sound quality is crisp and they pack a fair punch. the only downside is the price, they are not the cheapest monitors on the market.
DJ YakaParticipantDj R. driver I totally agree, it can’t do any harm
DJ YakaParticipantDJ YakaParticipantTerry 42 is right. In small bar venues the sound system should be more than sufficient for mixing.
As for mixing in headphones, I recently DJ’ed a dance set at a silent disco. This meant that all of my mixing had to be done in/via my headphones. I can honestly say, mixing with nothing but your headphones for 5 hours straight is a “different” experience. It wasn’t until that night that I realized how much I actually use the club sound system when mixing.
IMO it’s all down to what suits you and what you feel most comfortable with. As Long as it sounds great…then who cares? 🙂
DJ YakaParticipantTotally agree with ya Terry. It’s impossible to please everyone….. As much as you want to
DJ YakaParticipantAm cringing looking at them VU levels, that’s unreal, wouldn’t even want to think how that actually sounded!
…….Saying that, the spot looks like it was bouncingDJ YakaParticipantCongrats, awesome story
DJ YakaParticipantCongrats….Nothing better than nailing your first gig!
DJ YakaParticipantjust been on mixify and watched the tutorial on how to stream my set, looks easy…… i am definatly up for it 🙂
