DJ YakaParticipantsounds good, i would defo be interested, keep me informed 🙂
DJ YakaParticipanthey si,
I’m a club/dance DJ from the UK, whats the idea?
DJ YakaParticipantDJ City all the way …… cant complain at £19 a month ($30) for unlimited downloads, all tracks at 320kbs
DJ YakaParticipantThe DJ City record pool is a great source for remixes and not overly expensive.
just signed upto this my self, it’s a good resource for what your after
DJ YakaParticipantTop 40 stuff isn’t the easiest stuff to mix, mainly because of the reason you pointed out “short intro’s and outros”. One way I get around it is by looping what intro and outro I have, this basically makes them longer.
Also, a lot of top 40 stuff these days is “I don’t like using this term” …. EDM… and these tracks are normally available in extended mix versions. In other words, DJ FREINDLY versions. Try downloading them rather than the radio edit versions.
Hope this helps 🙂
DJ YakaParticipantSomething very similar happened to me about two month ago. The club I am resident in booked DJ Luck and MC Neat (2 massive UK garage artists). They wanted me to DJ either side of their set. All good ye… apart from I am not a Garage DJ…..I am a dance/club/house DJ.
Anyway, I decide to take the gig, I done a bit of research in to garage music, also asked DDJT members for help…….. Next thing I know I am performing a full on garage set alongside LUCK & NEAT!….. And I absolutely loved every second of it, probably one of the best nights I have ever done.
So ye, don’t turn down the opportunity, I would defiantly take the gig, just brush up on your music, do a bit of planning and go for it!!
Good Luck …lets me know how it goes, if you do decide to take the gig 😉
DJ YakaParticipantI have had both of these controllers; I first had the DDJ ergo which I used with Traktor. I bought this controller basically because it had pioneer stamped on the side (I know it’s not the best way to pick equipment but I’m a sucker for pioneer equipment).
I think this controller gets a fair bit of stick because of “all the flashing lights” and the “price tag” attached to it. To be fair I can totally understand this, but it was a great piece of kit, and it never let me down…. until some idiot launched a bottle of “Blue WKD” from one side of the club to the other (the other being where I was DJ’ing at.
Anyway……… when purchasing a replacement, I read a lot of reviews and I bought the Traktor Kontrol s2, mainly because it was cheaper than the ergo. I have to say that the Kontrol s2 is also one awesome piece of kit for its size and price.
Steelo is 100% correct in saying that nothing is as tight with Traktor as the s2.
So my advice would be if you are using Traktor, get the s2 or s4
Hope this helps 🙂
DJ YakaParticipantI love my dance music, so I would have to pick:-
1) Porter Robinson Language

3) Martin Solveig The Night Out
DJ YakaParticipantQuality article ….Funny but true
DJ YakaParticipantHi LJ, I class myself as a dance/club DJ. I play dance anthems……most genres of house (electro, progressive, mainstream).
Yes I play out every weekend, as I hold a residency. Recently played alongside DJ Luck and MC neat….awesome night! Also played a 7hour club/dance set in the clothing chain TOPSHOP/TOPMAN, in one of their city stores, again it was an awesome experience, wired experience compared to what am used to, but an awesome one!
If you’re into dance music at all feel free to check out my mixes / DJ sets ….. http://www.soundcloud.com/dj-ky-3
What music you into, and do you play out much??
P.S. it’s great to see fellow UK DJ’s on here 🙂
DJ YakaParticipantSounds like a good plan to me….just get yourself out there and see what happens….the more you do the better chance of achieving what you want
