Yeah I had wifi and bluetooth off. I hear putting ram, or anything for that matter, in a mac (let alone a macbook) is a huge pain… Hope I don’t have to do that. I decided it might be a background program I kinda forgot about. Bumptop. So guess I’ll try quitting that from now on and see how things go.

that app also has a site that will identify it for free (provided you have a mic hooked up) you can sing it or hum it or whatever. Although it didn’t work when I tried to find some song that’s been stuck in my head for a few days. All i can remember is the melody which is impossible to describe…

8 times out of 10 the sync button works fine, but those 2 times it screws up royally. So I avoid it. However, with my current set-up, (virtualdj and a mixtrack) I do my absolute best to beat match it by ear, but virtualdj doesn’t do so well with picking up the pitch control. I’ll be able to get it to something like track A at 130 bpm and track B at 130.20 and that’s as close as it gets. So once i get it down that close I’ll hit sync while it’s paused just to match the BPMs exactly. But hitting the sync button in the mix not only feels “wrong” to me, it’s no fun. I enjoy mixing them together. Another reason why I like traktor better, it does very well with pitch sensitivity.
I see it more as an “emergency exit” if it all goes wrong for some reason it’s nice to know it’s there.

i’ve got 44 gigs of music… Although I wouldn’t mix all of it. I’ve got a wide variety of stuff and I’d love to be able to have an itunes for EDM/Dj stuff, and another for all the other stuff that I rarely listen to anymore (rock, alt, etc.) I’m running low on space in my hd so I’m looking forward to this icloud thing just to give myself some breathing room. I’ve got an external hd, but idk I feel like that would be a pain to deal with.

what alex said… Also the bass is a little overpowering. I like the drops. 8 min seems a tad long for that song, without changing it up more.

i caught the one a few days ago, it was on network here in the states which made me go O.o but I’m not one to argue with a good thing.

The news isn’t so messed up as it is here in the US, and the programming choices have more variety. I even think radio is better over there since they’ll play a true “shuffle” and not just recycle the same 20 songs every hour.

Ain’t it the truth. I never even turn on the radio anymore, I would love to have something like BBC 1. I like how they had formula 1 on network in HD, but the gold cup final on an obscure soccer channel in low def.

@ djspekz, no disrespect, but “don’t be nervous” is really bad advice. And by that I mean there’s no way not to be! And when you are nervous, and you keep telling yourself “don’t be nervous” you’ll just get nervous about getting nervous. Everybody’s nervous, it’s healthy. It means you care! :p I see what you mean though.
Perhaps don’t obsess about getting everything perfect… I was watching a controller view of one of Laidback Luke’s sets, and he missed some of his cues a couple times, but didn’t even flinch, he just adjusted.. Made me feel better I’ll tell ya that much haha

I took some piano lessons way back when I was a kid, but never got that into it. I played the trumpet for 3 years in jr high.

seems to be doin pretty well in my neck of the woods I think half of it is people who try way too hard to not be “mainstream” and the other half is people who genuinely enjoy it.
I’m on the fence about it. Some of it I really enjoy while some of it I can’t stand.

got a mixtrack myself. I like it so far. I didn’t want the pro because of the built in sound card. Might as well have a card when I want to upgrade to something else. Plus I didn’t want EQ kills instead of hot cues. I’m quite happy with it so far. Although I have some issues with the pitch control sensitivity (or lack thereof)

im using virtualdj right now but I gotta say the stupid LE edition that came with my mixtrack left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I don’t get why the home free version I downloaded off the internet has more features than the cd they included. Plus it’s crashed on me a few times and the displays frozen for a while too. I certainly don’t like it enough to pay 300 or however much it is for pro, so when I get enough money to spend on software I’ll probably get traktor.

Ever since I was a kid I loved high energy dance music and the idea of clubs. My room was full of party lights, black lights, and I even had a diso ball hanging from my ceiling. But lack of exposure to EDM music left me in the dark about it until I was 18. I have to thank basshunter for showing up on the itunes chart and opening the door to EDM for me. Summer of 2008 I spent my time learning all about the major “Techno” artists, then in 2009 my first rave was a deadmau5 show. I was hooked. Can’t get enough of it.

I love playing music for people. At my last job I would put my ipod on the PA and try to play the right stuff. I would make playlists to fit an 8 hour day of work. People loved it, started calling me the DJ. I do the same in the car, try to find the right tunes. It makes me happy to see or hear someone reacting to the music.

So putting those together I just sorta gravitated towards production and more recently DJing. I can’t imagine a better job.

Laidback Luke. His involvement with fans gives me so much respect for him. Also Kaskade, his soundcloud tracks are some of the best remixes I’ve ever heard. Both of them strike me as regular guys, not some “international superstar” idk why…
