NewportDJ DrewParticipantmy 12 YO daughter did a drop for me a while back, I use it almost every mix. http://www.mixcrate.com/mix/57906/NewportDJ-I-Perform-This-Way to hear her do her thing. (its in first few seconds of the mix 8)I think she did an awesome job of it.

NewportDJ DrewParticipantMy 12 year old daughter did the main drop I use at the start of my sets. My son also did one for me for a mid set drop. Its funny, my daughter gets embarrassed when she hears it…, but I know she has given me a perfect drop that I love. just listen to first few seconds of this…http://www.mixcrate.com/mix/57906/NewportDJ-I-Perform-This-Way to hear her do her thing.
NewportDJ DrewParticipantaudacity or any software recorder allows you to do this. But you have to map the source in your audio card options.
NewportDJ DrewParticipantWhen I first got my ddj deck, I just jumped straight in and mixed. posting up all manner of good bad ugly and magical. At the moment I am working on a project with my wife, which has forced me to actually think about the set, where I want it to go and how to blend some extremley different styles of music.. First thing we did is brainstorm a ‘pool’ of track candidates and even different versions of the same track, then spend hours going through them seeing what goes and what doesn’t deleting the crap and also set the playlist from first track to last even so far as listing time to blend each to the next before I lay it down. This has proved to me that the time and effort taken to get all this done is going to give huge benefits in the final product and is certainly what I will do from now on.

Whatever you do, don’t play the Macarena – people will have you killed for that.

NewportDJ DrewParticipantBiggest mistakes.. not relaxing and not having fun. stage fright. be the boss of the gear and music. try not to be distracted by the requests.
NewportDJ DrewParticipantI guess thats the answer I have too, BUT why are my successful sets(at least online) my genre brawls (mash up just doesn’t cut it)? Lord, I am confused and need a degree in crowd psycology! 8) TIC.
