NewportDJ DrewParticipant
Try using a different usb driver. If you still have an older copy of one use that. for instance the driver I use for my s4 is 3.0.3.696 released 26/4/2012. This is the one that works with my setup. Took alot of hunting down to arrive at this solution.
NewportDJ DrewParticipantAuto gain= on
limiter=off
headroom= 6db
main level in software=0db
s4= varies throughout the gig.NewportDJ DrewParticipantThe master level on the s4 has bearing only on the speaker volume and is totally isolated by itself.
NewportDJ DrewParticipantI put my master at 0dB. Then keep the meters out of the red by using gains on individual channels.
NewportDJ DrewParticipantI don’t do a lot of promo, but this mix is really different and is growing in plays and downloads. This was recorded live and has not been edited or had any post production. A diverse group of tracks that are varied in genre and mixing style on each transition. I think my fav track is DJ’s from Mars, Phat Ass Drop, which is kinda a fun track, after two tracks from a couple of the industries most prolific producers , that has me wondering ‘Is that all the formula is’? Some really nice chill down tracks towards the end with “Crave You” by Flight Facilities FT Gizelle, beautiful jazzy vocals that touch my soul. Enjoy this mix as it takes you from Sunset to sunrise.Peace out NPDJ

NewportDJ DrewParticipantIt should also be noted that those safe dB level exposure times are ‘at the ear’ not at the source.
NewportDJ DrewParticipantAs a mobile DJ I try to still be able to ~JUST~ hear the people talking. Generally about 90-100dB at the speaker. Oh, and that image above is from http://www.dangerousdecibels.org/education/information-center/decibel-exposure-time-guidelines/
NewportDJ DrewParticipantNewportDJ DrewParticipantGrease mega nix, blurred lines, livin next door to alice, mustang sally, nasty girl (nitty version), hey baby (dj otzi mix), sexy back, 500 miles are all regulars in my playlists. (I am a mobile wedding dj and usually older groups)
NewportDJ DrewParticipantI always challenge audiophiles to put their ears where their mouth is and do a blind trial of sit in a room and listen to 10 various iterations of a track then tell me what they think the format of it is(eg mp3, wav) and that if they are 100% successful, I will STFU. They can even pick the amp and speaker system. Never had one take me up on the offer. 🙂
Honestly, I reckon that 128k mp3 is even good enough to gig with.NewportDJ DrewParticipantFirst cab off the rank is USB driver. download a few back versions of the driver , install each and test to see if any of them play nicely.
NewportDJ DrewParticipantsaxes?=saves 🙂
NewportDJ DrewParticipantSure! The poles are there for bi-amping with +1,-1 being for say lows and +2,-2 for highs, There can be up to four poles for tri-amping (+1,+2.+3,+4/-1,-2,-3,-4) being for subs, mids and highs with one unused. Having the all them built into one cable saxes having multiple long cable runs and daisy chaining the speaker system less messy.
NewportDJ DrewParticipantNice. Might be my next mixer.
NewportDJ DrewParticipantMy two cents….SPL is the true key. Sound pressure level is the final result of watts and speaker efficiency. You want your speakers to be capable of delivering at least of clarity 100dB SPL each. Learn about dB from an spl point of view. Learn about the rule of 10 (10dB more sounds twice as loud). Learn that double the speakers (eg 2 speakers) only increases loudness by 3dB. ) so if you have 2 speakers pumping 100dB of spl the actual spl is 103dB). My serious recommendation is that every mobile DJ if they are building and running a PA should do a course in sound technology even if just for the basics of how sound systems work. I cannot stress the importance of obtaining this knowledge. 8)
