Traktor Preferences > Global Settings: There is an option to display the mix recorder in the top left of right of the screen.
Traktor Preferences > Mix Recorder: You can select the various options for recording. I always use the max value for the file split.

Spend a little time getting the levels right so that it’s punchy but not clipping.

Once you have recorded the mix it will appear in your Traktor collection as well as the RECORDINGS folder in your root Traktor folder.

Whatever you do, don’t play the Macarena – people will have you killed for that.

The only thing I have a deep background in playing is silly-buggers. I don’t consider myself to be a musician as I am something far more powerful – a geek 😀

No doorbell today (our dog is trained to eat anyone who comes to the front door) but I still managed to get side-tracked sorting my Traktor collection out. I have purchased probably 20-30 tracks in the last few weeks and am combing though my Traktor collection to see what’s been imported into my collection versus what hasn’t.

Can someone tell me why Traktor seems to update the “Date Created” tag when it touches a track? Date Modified I can understand but it’s infuriating to go to my download folder and see all my tracks have the same Date Created Date – making it difficult to distinguish what I last pulled in.

I have a laundry list of other problems with Traktor’s file handling methods but all that will do is result in me wasting even more time 😉

I have TSP2 with a Kontrol S4 but am considering either adding Ableton or just switching to Ableton. I like a process where the prep time is spent up front. While it may seem like an odd consideration to many, having a 3 year old in the house means you don’t have a lot of spare time and what spare time you do have is late in the evening where busting out tunes isn’t an option. It would be great to be able to sit down and work on a set in bit size pieces.

Ideally I will have both but there’s only so much cash you can drop on audio kit before your other half starts looking at you (to be precise, that amount is $1,423)

I don’t mind iTunes at all but as you said, the lack of metadata editing in Traktor makes it a no-no for me. I’d like to see NI rethink how they handle files altogether as it’s not particularly user-friendly.

By Day, I am a Product Marketing Manager for an enterprise software company. By night I am a father to an amazing three year old lad. I also like to cook and can knock out that Whole Foods $6 loaf for a few pennies 😉

As you will find out (some of you already know) I am a geek with a twisted sense of humour and a need to write. I particularly like to write stupid stuff like: http://mixtrain.wordpress.com/drugs-you-need/ or even http://mixtrain.wordpress.com/heroin-2-0/
