That’s pretty sweet. I knew I should have filled out that survey from that other site.
Are you planning on using the turntables with your S4? That would be a pretty sweet DVS setup.
As for me, I just started using Traktor again as well. As a Traktor-then-VDJ-then-Torq-then-VDJ-then-djay-then-VDJ user I recently bought Traktor 2.5 to use with my new Stanton SCS.1 setup. I still prefer VDJ as a program, but the mapping for the SCS.1 just isn’t tight enough for my liking. I’ve been impressed so far with how far Traktor has come since I last used it, though.
squarecellParticipantJust thought I’d update to say that I’m thoroughly impressed with this system. It took a while to work out all the kinks, but I can’t imagine owning a cooler controller than this.

squarecellParticipantIf you have the option, just tap in your BPM at the part that it starts to slow down. A bit annoying because you’d have to do it every time you play that song, but I find this works for me.
squarecellParticipantI don’t think there’s anything wrong with re-using a few crowd favourites later on in the evening. It’s much better than playing your second-rate stuff when the dance floor is packed, or simply hitting stop and saying “I’m out of music”.
squarecellParticipantOkay, I believe you now.
It’s too bad they dropped that from the design. I find it adds a nice kick to the low end for general listening purposes.
squarecellParticipantProbably a stupid question, but did you try flipping the “bass boost” switch on the back of the left speaker to ON?

squarecellParticipantI have these:

They have good clear sound, are decently loud and have a pretty good low end when you switch on “bass boost” at the back.
If you search around online you can get a pretty good deal on them. I got mine for just over $100 CAD.
squarecellParticipantVan Zan sounds pretty good to me. Van Zand also has a nice ring to it, or maybe even “Brian Van Zand”. Three letter initials are nice for branding purposes (BVZ).
squarecellParticipantNot sure how one would go about “hacking” a tablet into a midi controller, but seeing as how the Kindle Fire runs on Android there should be DJ apps for it.
squarecellParticipantI picked up stereo-to-mono breakout splitter from my local Radio Shack for about $4. It was labelled for use with audiobooks.

squarecellParticipantThe Time Capsule is a piece of hardware that costs roughly $300. It’s basically a wireless router with a built-in hard drive. All the software you need (Time Machine) is already built into Mac OS X. There are plenty of other network hard drives which are Time Machine compatible, too.
squarecellParticipantYour first gig at 13? Not bad. Beats me by two years.
And don’t worry, mistakes are made for learning from. You’ll just be that much more prepared next time around.
