Actually, that one socket supports audio in/out – but it’s designed to only work with Apple stuff (like the iPhone headset). You need an adapter to break it out into the usual 1/8 ” mic/line in and stereo out sockets.

I know I’m gonna take heat from the more experienced members, but that’s one of the joys of ddjt forums 🙂 While it’s true that you really won’t be happy doing EDM sets in medium/large venues without a really good main/subwoofer combo, having >$2000 can be a tough nut to crack for a beginner. So, if you can go a little above your budget, I like the sound of the Behringer EUROLIVE B212D – decent bass for the price, but don’t expect miracles. Should be enough for small clubs and house parties though.

Whatever you’re most comfortable with – for me, that’s a reasonably new MacBook Pro. Apple’s near dictatorial approach to hardware/software works to my advantage in terms of stability and Linux/Unix background is very well documented. Nothing against Windows, use it regularly, but very willing to pay more for Mac.

Like the old joke goes – Why us a divorce so expensive? Because it’s worth it 🙂

Greetings, he who is known as Kurosch 🙂 Welcome to the ddjt forums, lots of fellow Traktorheads here.

Greetings, B.B. It would help if you could give a more detailed explanation of what you’re trying to accomplish, but here goes anyway. Soundflower is a very cool little audio routing program, but agree with T. that it probably won’t do what you want. The main issue is that to both cue in headphones and output to master, you need two distinct output destinations. With your current setup, there’s only one (aggregate device, built in output). This isn’t because of Soundflower, you need another output device. Like T said, sound card is prolly best, but what should also work is the DJ Cable from Traktor. Send monitor to ‘phones, main to built in output. But you have another issue – it seems you want to use the system mic, and this is problematic with Soundflower. Notice that it monitors line in and mic – this means system alerts, skype, etc are going to show up in your audio input. So you have to shut all that stuff down, and this is probably one of the reasons T calls it bogus 🙂

And, if you’re trying to do a quality podcast/streamcast, built in mic isn’t going to serve you well.

Much love and respect, Terry_42 – you give invaluable advice, great hardware tips, accurate criticism, and know way more than I do. However, I must respectfully disagree with your assessment above. Shure is considered to be the Rolls-Royce (Ferrari?) of wireless microphone systems, and there is no such thing as a cheap Shure system. Not sure (heh :)) where djzricki is getting pricing…..

I think you’re only looking at the mic, it needs to be paired with a receiver, which is what plugs into the mixer/pa, as in the quick start guide. And as far as I know, these systems go for upwards of $400 (cough).

in reply to: Good samples and how to use them? #43647

Greetings, and welcome aboard. Although not inexpensive, a great source for samples is Beatport’s DJ Tools.

Those are passive (unpowered) speakers. You’d need an amp to power them, prolly not what you want.

Oh yeah, also Mixvibes Cross DJ – getting a very good rep, actually cheaper than VJ6, and Chuck would kill me if I didn;t mention it 🙂

Greetings, welcome, and watch out for that grumpy Terry_42 fellow 🙂
