Greetings, and welcome! FWIW, Santi is he most common nickname for Santiago, so I think it would be fine. For me, though, the full name Santiago (without the DJ) is cool. Or you could break it down – Santiago = Saint Jacob, drop the saint and you could use Iago, Tiago, or Diego, all Spanish variants of Jacob. I kinda like Tiago.

Funny stuff, especially liked “so, heineken, we meet again” 😉

Greetings, and welcome to the forums! Actually, never heard of club pro dj until your post, but did some research. First, it’s now called VJ6 so if you have an older version this may not apply. Second, the documentation is not good – less than a page on controllers and controller mapping. Here’s what I found relevant:

The Control Mapper allows you to map the controls on your Keyboard as well as the Visiosonic DAC-2, Numark DMC-1, Hercules DJ Console, Hercules MK2, Hercules DJ Control MP3, Vestax VCI-100, Denon DN-HC4500, Behringer BCD-2000, Behringer BCD-3000, Numark OMNI CONTROL, Hercules DJ Console Remix, Hercules DJ Control Steel, Kontrol DJ KDJ-500

Also:
MIDI controllers supported by VJ6are defined in the file pluginsMidiDevices.xml.
Default control mapp ings are in the PluginsMidiDefaults.xml. Do not edit
these files because they are updated in each new version of VJ6, and you would lose your changes.

This is unusual in that most dj software comes with etrensive documentation on how to integrate hardware controllers. Also be aware that after plugging the controller it still must be configured in the software setup before it will be seen.

Just a personal opinion – if you need to purchase an upgrade, I’d suggest you look at a more widely used and supported solution, such as Traktor, Serato, Virtual DJ, etc.

I’m not of much help, but there are rumors such a map exists. This thread on Serato’s forum could point you towards a possible contact.

Was gonna post my grandma’s meatloaf recipe, but damn you guys have chops! (yes, that’s a pun :))

Spiedini d’Agnello (Lamb skewers with pancetta and peppers)
Prep time 15 minutes, total time 30 min., serves 4

Ingredients
1 (1 1/2-pound) piece boneless leg of lamb, trimmed and cut into 32 (1-inch) cubes
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil plus more for grill
Coarse sea salt
Freshly ground black pepper
About 1 teaspoon finely chopped rosemary
6 ounces thick-sliced pancetta, cut into 32 (¾-inch) pieces
2 small yellow (or red, but not green) bell peppers, cut into 32 (1- x 1-inch) pieces

Instructions
Prepare a charcoal grill for direct-heat cooking over medium-hot charcoal (medium-high heat for gas). (Could also use a grill pan).

Pat lamb dry. In a bowl, toss lamb with oil, rosemary, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Alternately thread lamb, pancetta and bell pepper onto skewers, leaving a little space in between pieces. Grill lamb, covered only if using a gas grill, on lightly oiled grill rack, turning occasionally, 6 to 8 minutes for medium-rare. Transfer lamb skewers to a platter and let rest 5 minutes before serving. Serve with coarse salt and pepper for extra seasoning, if desired.

I’d accompany with a simple green salad and good crusty bread.

Never used FL, but found a post from an Alchemy support guy that describes how to set it up:

Hope it helps 🙂

You could do this with Audacity, a free and easy to use audio editor that runs on pcs (and mac)

FL Studio is a DAW (like Cubase as Chuck mentioned above) that has support for VST plugins. VST plugins are used to extend the functionality of a DAW, they are not used alone. I’d suggest that if you want to start playing around with your own sounds on the cheap, download an eval copy of Reaper, and the free Alchemy Player VST at http://www.camelaudio.com/AlchemyPlayer.php
Many sound design examples and just lots of fun 😉

in reply to: Few questions about Traktor.. #43157

Greetz, L-Jam. Basically, iTunes and Traktor integration just isn’t very good, we all wonder when it will be fixed but it just hasn’t happened. There is a program (Trainspotter) that helps, and here’s a link to Phil’s review:
http://www.digitaldjtips.com/tag/trainspotter-2/

Here’s a good guide to getting going with filters and effects (what a coincidence, it’s also by Phil on this site :-))
http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2011/03/beginners-guide-to-dj-effects/

Reverb and flanger are good to buildup to drops, but there are many on this forum that are far more knowledgeable than me on the use of effects.

Don’t have maschine yet, but it’s on my short list for purchase so been doing some research. Want to use it not only for production, but also as a live component for Tractor Pro sets. Found a tutorial from DJ Endo that seems to do exactly that – maschine and Traktor Pro on one box, midi synced using the S4 soundcard.

Looks good, hope it works as advertised 🙂

What I mean by that is that only people that know your, follow you, have you on facebook or in any other way visit places you “put up E-flyers” will read it. With regular flyers you can go out the afternoon of a gig to the local mall for example and hand them out to new people that look like they are in your target group.

If there are any colleges or Universities around, be sure to find a way to post something there too. Students are usually looking for new entertainment. They might not be the biggest spenders ever (most are on a very tight budget) but they do like to party and would fill up a room nicely.

Hey, Chuck, good to see you back in da house 🙂 Agree completely with your assessment, good practical advice as always. You should come visit Boston though – for every student who is broke, there’s another from outside the states that’s thinking “hmm, this music’s not bad – think I’ll buy the club” 😎

in reply to: What are the basics #43063

Wow, this is a large question, raiden. Understand your wife’s reluctance, even the hardware you;re talking about is somewhat of a challenge. You’ve got an old version of SL, and when you say decks I assume you mean cdj’s – or even turntable, same applies. This gear was designed for djs making the transition from vinyl to digital, and would probably be the most difficult setup on which to learn (since it is designed for experienced pros). I’d suggest starting with something much easier, like Virtual DJ Home, until you learn the fundamentals of mixing and beatmatching. Follow djrizki’s link above, much good info, read the prep tips on this site, think about your music library. Start by mixing the same song on two decks, as mentioned in the previous posts. Once you are somewhat comfortable with this, then roll out that scary vinyl stuff. Or not – lots of us are happy with our controllers 🙂

in reply to: New laptop advice #43001

Greetings, and welcome to the forum. I’m a Traktor user, and have experience with many different laptops but not the Zenbook. Taking a quick look at the specs, quite a variation between the models. They all should be fine running Traktor Pro, with a couple of caveats. Traktor has a very crowded interface, and I wouldn’t want to use it with an 11.6 inch screen (model ux21a). Actually would prefer one of the 15 inch screen models, but that’s your choice, should be OK on a 13 or 14. Also, the lower end models only have 2 usb ports, and no ethernet interface. So, if you need a hardwired network connection, you lose a port – meaning if you use any other usb devices (such as an external drive), you will need a usb hub for your controller, significantly reducing the “ultra light” factor.

And this is just a generalization – you will pay more for ultra-light form factor than the standard laptop equivalent, so decide how important the convenience is to you.

Hope this helps 🙂
