    Hi!

Isn’t it possible to send SEMPTE with CDJs? Or just base it off a MIDI clock – to sync up the visuals?

If you’re on a budget, I’d imagine this wasn’t too hard to DIY – if the floor can be raised slightly?

Hi, and welcome to the forum – go to the introduction section and make an introduction post 🙂

You should explore the forum and use the search function for this 🙂 I believe this topic has been covered quite well in previous posts.

DDJT has an extensive list of test, reviews and walkthroughs on most of the up to date controllers. Have a look at http://www.digitaldjtips.com/dj-controllers-gear-buyers-guide-2016/. You’ll also notice that there are both written- and video reviews of most of the units.

Quite a few units give you a full ready system without the need for a laptop, so it usually comes down to features and knobs you’d find most fitting for your style and workflow.

Best of luck, and keep us updated 🙂

Hi! My guess would be that this is a related to one or two things, either the USB drivers for the device itself, or the USB bus on the motherboard – usually also driver related.

My tip would be to check for updated USB drivers for both the NM3P and the motherboard. Try to upgrade to non-WHQL drivers from AMDs site directly.

    Hi!

You can reinstall your laptop, regardless of where you bought it, and what kind of vendor it is. All you need is an operating system to put on it, in your case I guess it’d make the most sense to put Windows 10 on it, which will require more memory.

As far as your virtual DJ software, you can get a new licence key through the vendors support system, as long as you have proof of purchase of the software/licence on email, in paperform, etc. That should be the easiest part to solve.

Your problems are solvable, but they do require a little work on your part online – but that’s nothing google can’t help you out with.

Best of luck, and keep us updated!

Effectively it’s like having two separate laptops in one casing.

That’s an excellent idea!! I was contemplating using my new work laptop, but was a bit put off by the horrible regime for provisioning of untimely automatic updates, remote triggered software installations and stuff like that. I’ll def. have to go that route myself. Thanks!

Disclaimer; I have no Mac-specific experience, but the Mac-shell is fairly similar to the FreeBSD shell.

Hi! There are two ways for a NAS to interact with an operating system. Either via proprietary drivers and software that allows you to interact with the NAS via a program, or using a more basic approach where the NAS is mounted to the filesystem. The latter is most common.

My first tip would be to check if your NAS is in fact mounted to the local file system. This can be done by going to the system console, or shell, and type in ‘mount’. If your NAS isn’t showing on the list, that’s most likely your explanation.

You could also take a look at your static mount-file, by typing in “cat /etc/fstab“. If there is nothing pertaining to the NAS here, my advice would be to find the device name for the NAS, and mount that manually. This may be done via command-line at any time, and made permanent by adding it to /etc/fstab.

    Good luck!

Not fixed yet. Experienced the same problem today, while trying to link to an external site in a reply.

    4 gigs of memory.

That’s going to kill you. Get a memory upgrade. They are usually quite cheap.

As far as multitasking, this depends on several factors. Usually, cheaper laptops have fewer PCI lanes on the system BUS. This means that the USB I/O BUS sometimes share the PCI lane with the network adapters, both wireless and cabled. When hardware devices share PCI lanes while running realtime applications like Virtual DJ, Serato, Traktor and Rekordbox, you get what’s called microstuttering. Microstuttering is usually the result of hardware devices “fighting” to send and receive signals on the same “road”. Some of the programs have the ability to increase the buffer to a certain degree, but this again is at the cost of higher average latency in the software itself.
