UnlockThis is a new service that exchanges downloads for likes and subscribers on various platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and more. You sign up to the service, create a campaign to promote your track or video, and UnlockThis acts as the “like-gate”, where the key to opening it comes in the form of a like, follow, or giving your e-mail address.
Since Facebook banned like-gating on Facebook Pages, services like UnlockThis and Hypeddit have come to the fore to provide an alternate method for growing your follower count that doesn’t violate Facebook (or any other social media sites’) policies. It’s a legitimate way to grow your fan base, since the people that are going to be liking or following you are folk that are interested in your music in the first place.
