Ableton
By tempo syncing Ableton Live with other iOS and desktop apps across a local network connection, Ableton Link allows easy cross-app and cross-user collaboration – and now it works with Serato DJ, too.

Remember Serato Bridge, the ambitious but ultimately flawed link between Serato Scratch Live and Ableton Live? Well, Serato and Ableton now play nicely together once again, with Serato DJ 1.9.3 (now in public beta) able to sync with Ableton Live, allowing DJs to spin simultaneously with their Ableton projects.

It doesn’t work in quite the same way as The Bridge did, and ultimately is all about Ableton’s expansion of the existing Ableton Link feature to include desktop apps for the first time, Serato DJ being one of them. (Until now, Ableton Link let Live users sync with iOS music apps, but not desktop apps.)

Furthermore, in much the same way that Native Instruments did with Traktor Stems, Ableton has made the technology open source, which means we ought to see more interesting integrations coming.

But for now, Serato DJ users excited at the opportunity to sync their Ableton Live projects with their DJ sets can grab the Serato 1.9.3 and experiment away, as Ableton Link is already a built-in feature of Ableton Live.
