Technics just announced the EAH-DJ1200, a new pair of on-ear headphones. Based on the long-running RP-DJ1200 headphones, the new EAH-DJ1200 features 40mm speaker drivers and swivelling ear cups that sit on top of your ear while still providing noise isolation. It comes with a detachable lead and folds into a compact shape for easy transport.

It’s been a while since Technics released a pair of headphones: the aforementioned RP-DJ1200 was released in 1996, and the “newer” RP-DH1200 released in the 2000s. These new cans have a sleeker design for a more muted, contemporary look, and while we haven’t had a chance to listen to them yet, they’ll probably be a great alternative to the usual Pioneer DJ and Sennheiser headphones if they sound as good (or better) than the RP-DJ1200.

• The Technics EAH-DJ1200 is coming in fall 2019, with price forthcoming. Check the Technics site for more details.

What are your thoughts on these headphones? Think they look good? What cans do you use for DJing? Let us know in the comments.
