Chris JenningsParticipant
A greater understanding of how other programs work can, but not always, lead to developing new and exciting ways to use the programs you’re comfortable with.
Your beatgrids were more than likely off as they’re what tells Traktor how to sync the tracks. You can study the keyboard mapping in that thread to see how the default mapping sets cue points. You’ll more than likely need to go into preferences and tell Traktor your using the keyboard mapping by setting the in port to keyboard. There is no out for keyboard mappings since there’s no LED feedback.
Chris JenningsParticipantNo need to apologize, he would probably take it as a compliment. 😉
It’s called a bandana and the cholos in my neighborhood wear them proudly!! 😎
Chris JenningsParticipantThose crazy German’s 😀
I know him pretty well via the internet, he’s a good guy. Side note, his best friend works for NI.
Chris JenningsParticipantI didn’t think about that. The Native Instruments folder is quite large after it analyzes your collection. According to iTunes I have 46 gigs on my laptop with 5,000+ songs and my NI folder is almost 5 gigs. If you’ve got songs that are beatgrided make sure to lock them before you analyze them to keep the grids from shifting. You can also right click on the message are on the bottom (may need to turn that on in preferences) and save as it’s doing its thing. That’s nice so that you don’t have to start over from the beginning of something happens.
Chris JenningsParticipantI posted in the other thread but I’ll post here as well in case someone stumbles on this thread with the same question.
add in>sample deck>load from deck and learn it to a button on your controller. Set it to direct then the sample slot you want it assigned to. Then tell it which deck it’s pulling from. It will automatically pull a sample that is whatever size the loop count is sitting at regardless of if a loop is active. If there’s an active loop in the deck the sample pulls from it will load a sample to match that size.
One of the things I do when I beatgrid my tracks now is to set a loop in certain spots in the song that might make a good sample. That way I can jump to the loop and put the sample in a slot to bring in bits of the next song. I’ll also use the sample in the song often playing over what it’s sampled from for a cool phasing/delay kind of effect.
Are the songs of decent quality and not youtube rips or anything like that? Do you use any other software to ‘analyze’ your songs? I’m thinking of things like platinum notes or other stuff along those lines.

Do you know if Traktor Creates Seperate Files for my Tracks; as I don’t really have a Great Deal of Space left (as Ableton has already built quite a Large Folder already of Analysed Files ?
Traktor doesn’t duplicate anything just links to the original.

Yep, that would be a problem. IMO the update is well worth the money!

I guess so.

Thanks, I’m going to start picking out some stuff for tomorrows show today and I’m in the same kind of mood so it’s likely to be just as mellow.
Chris JenningsParticipantAbout $60 a month.
Chris JenningsParticipanthttp://libsyn.com/ offers one in their podcast hosting plans.
Chris JenningsParticipantI got the email last night that it was available. I’m going to wait before I spend money on it though.
Chris JenningsParticipantDid you get it working?
Chris JenningsParticipantThere’s two default keyboard mappings that installed along with Traktor. Check in the NI folder in documents for the tsi file and the pdf. To load these mappings go to the controller manager and select add. There’s also a couple on traktorbible.com
