When recording in Traktor it automatically lowers the volume when you record, you have to manually turn up the gain inside the program.

yeah, which is why i didn’t rush out and buy a random laptop, i actually shopped around. I won’t be able to get it this week so I’ll be using cdjs this event (my laptop lags with Traktor often). :/

i went shopping around today and found a mac book pro that i’ll be able to do payments on, so i think i might head in that direction >.< hopefully it won't bite me in the arse.

That would be kind of rough, be easy to dem folks, don’t start storming them with a heavy sets of EDM at first or they would run out of the door, lol

haha i threw an event a while back, in may, and it was pretty successful; we brought in a “headliner” (PIERRE from dallas). oh, by successful i mean successful for central texas haha, we had about 350-400 show and made profit on our first event, we kept it 95% edm with a little bit of old school hip hop. hopefully, with baylor back in town it’ll thrive haha.

I’m from central Texas, no I don’t ride horses everywhere, I do own a couple of guns though lol. I live in a town of about 100k people it’s a small city; Baylor is the largest of 3 schools here, 2 community colleges. It’s the first time anyone has really tried to start a weekly “EDM” based night (it’s mostly rap/hiphop, spanish, or country), they’re giving us complete freedom and have agreed to not interfere with the playlist, it’s completely our night.
I honestly wouldn’t mind a Mac, it’s just out of my budget haha.

I mean… I’m not saying it’s not a nice skill to have, but I just think it’s rather an _unnecessary_ skill in this day and age.

Assuming you’re playing stuff from a computer, not vinyl/cds. But I guess you wouldn’t be on this particular forum if you weren’t.

it’s always good to be multi-platformed 😉 that way if your laptop/controller fails, carry an extra usb or 2, and if someone has cdjs…(where beatmatching is 90% of you’ll be doing)…BOOM. you’re set to go then you can figure out the problem that went wrong later. ie: i went to mad decent block party and one of the dj’s laptop overheated (it was 100+ outside) we had to wait 15 minutes until they brought a bag of ice to set under his laptop.

i use the waveform just as a visual aid to where different periods in the song are such as intro, build ups, drops, outro other than that i use my ears.

Yeah, happened to me Saturday night… stopped the music for a couple of seconds then played it again and clapped my hands trying to get the attention off them as it was starting to break up.

I want to remove my Sync button and change it to switch between a/c & b/d tracks… how would I come about doing this? I’ve tried remapping but I honestly don’t know how to change the settings in controller editor.. I try and nothing changes.

My Beats Pro are pretty comfy just a little heavy but they’re pretty durable… and fits me perfectly.. My first headphones were the Beats Solo HD and those would squeeze the hell out of my head.

I’d think to keep the music going during a fight, no? I mean unless it’s a pretty serious fight where multiple people are involved… it would keep the crowds attention off them to avoid further disturbance…

Try not to spam your work on social networks either. I’m all for promotion but once you post directly on my wall, message twice and my news feed is filled with your promo only…sorry but you’re getting the boot. I will never post on someone’s wall or inbox them directly. Tag some people in your mixes when you promote but not all the time and tag different people.

Getting BPMs correctly 99% of the time? Holy shish, what type are you using? The first CDJs I used were Pioneer 850s and OMG that BPM reader would jump every 5 seconds. It would be at 128, 5 seconds later it would be at 130 then back to 128 and I’d be like WTF? I use Traktor majority of the time and people automatically assume I use the sync button but I don’t, I’ve even threatened to mutilate my controller to where it won’t have a sync button, but then there’s still sync in the program *shrugs*. I’m opposed to using sync although I have used it when I first started DJing with VDJ. Never have I used it when I switched to Traktor though.
