Thanks for that Jezalenko & RealRasputin.

So using Traktor, if you nudge the paddles on the Zomo, will it then change the BPM & move the fader on the computer screen ? Again sorry if it seems like an obvious question, but for me it’s a major selling point because I’d love it if the X1 had those. I’ve been waiting for something like this.

Also thanks for starting the thread RR, this could be a great option for me as every club and bar here use DJM800 & 900..so currently I use 2 x X1/Audio 4 … but this could do all of that , plus its small with fewer connections to worry about as well.

If you have a had a chance to use it can you let us know what its like. Thanks

The outputs are on the side :

Although with the DJM 900 you can even go to traktorfreaks.com and download the midi map for the DJM900 and use it solely as a Traktor controller.

Excuse my ignorance with this question but the “pitch bend / pitch-shift paddles” on the Zomo. I take it that they perform the same task as the pitch faders ? I ask this because I use it to beatmatch. On the Zomo there doesn’t appear to be a lot of travel with these pitch-shift paddles therefore I’m wondering how easy it is to accurately and quickly adjust the BPM this way. Phil when you review this unit could you please comment about this. Thanks in advance.

Otherwise looks like a great little unit … does the job of two X1’s at half the price.

Bring on the competition I say. If you look back on the last year and the amount and quality of controllers released, it’s been pretty staggering. Before this they would bring out a CDJ or mixer every 3 years or so and our choices were fairly limited. I think we are going to get more of the same next year as they fight for the market. Plus over here, as soon as Pioneer brought out their DDJ’s , NI reduced the price of the S4 by $300, Denon soon followed reducing the MC6000 by the same amount and each unit cost roughly $1000. Pioneer initially had the DDJ selling for $1400 and cut this after just one month to $1000 as well. Same story with the DJM-T1 initially selling for $2400 now $2000…competition can only be a good thing !

I have to agree with you. Recently got to demo a MC6000 and I really liked it. I’m sure the build quality of the 3000 will be similar to its big brother. For me the big thing will be the connectivity and the fact that it will hopefully be plug and play with traktor , no mapping…can’t wait for this unit ! Also like that they have moved the pitch faders to the outside…less clutter in the central work area.

I love my MC6000 and the MC3000 would proberbly be a 2channel Traktor unit with the same buildquality so
I think it will be a great unit. I hope it has a “real” mixer like the MC6000 so that you can hook up external units.
And it will hopefully have a lower pricetag than NI S2 and Pio “Toy” units 😉

Nice one. Although before you spend money on CDJs, I would recommend that you download a free trial version of Traktor or Serato and just have a bit of a play around with it. You might find that it opens up a whole new world of features / effects and things you can do that can really enhance your DJing. That’s pretty much how I got into digital straight from vinyl. You will also be saving money, for the cost of a pair of “soon to be obsolete CDJ’s” you can have your pick of any top of the range controller and trust me you still get that “feeling” you were talking about when DJing , if not more with all the added creative options that software gives you. Just something to think about , good luck which ever path you go down and let us know how you get on.

If Pioneer were to make “club standard controllers” then who is going to buy their CDJs ? They would kill off their own business. Problem for Pioneer though is that A&H/Denon/NI do make “club standard” controllers which more and more DJ’s are starting to use. Look at any of their websites and you’ll see big names playing big gigs with them. Pioneer have realised if you cant beat them join them.

Forget both of them and get the new Denon MC3000 !

I’m sure the ERGO does the job, but it looks like something aimed at my 12yr old nephew … go the S2 if you want to be taken more seriously.

Darren it’s a shame that the club doesn’t have CDJ 900 or 2000 because all those things you mention in terms of having your music organised etc can be done on Rekordbox which comes free from Pioneer so you don’t need to buy more software. You organise your set and track list on the laptop beforehand, then just use your laptop as your music source so the CDJs behave just as they would with a CD/USB etc so you don’t lose the “feel” that you mention.

Nice work mate and good track selection (particularly Andy Moor – Fight the Fire, one of my fav tracks at the moment) !

I’ve heard rumours that the “X2” isn’t far away. If you can, I would hold off on making any purchase.

Also Hessler, as a Denon user , what are your thoughts on the new MC3000 ?

No problem mate and thanks for the response ! Once we get enough suggestions in the thread I’ll send a copy to every major manufacturer in the hope that someone will build it !!:)

Ditto with the grid, I seem to spend half my time moving beat markers and tapping out the BPM ! Interesting point having MIK and Platinum Notes incorporated with Traktor, that’s a great idea..imagine just load a track into your library and have it BPM / Key / Quality all sorted !!! Great suggestion and time saver.

    Thanks again Subculture !

Lol re the promoter losing it …I think I’ll have a similar response from club management ! Phil you should do an article on “Ways to bring management around to the idea of controllers” !!

Looking at that set up I’m guessing that you can assign Traktor decks to separate channels on the mixer and have separate EQ’s…which is what I was after.

As an aside mate….not how sure reliable this is but the X1 is now being heavily discounted down here and bundled together with all sort of free stuff and packages. So all the talk is of the X2 being release in Q4.

I prefer to disable the pitch faders in Traktor as this allows me to see more of the track wave form.
I Synch (yes, I know the EVIL SYNCH button) my decks to the internal Clock Master in Traktor. Then I can use the Kontrol X1s to pitch bend (press the Shift button and then use the Beat/Bend buttons) when a track drifts out of synch, which happens more often than not.

If only SYNCH worked as good as it’s detractors say it does…

Lol about the SYNC ! Gotta give the haters something to complain about !

Mate when you use the X1 in a club setting..(laptop + X1 + sound card) into the club mixer. Does it play out of
one channel on the club mixer or can you assign your tracktor decks to separate mixer channels ? I’m just thinking in terms
of have separate EQ control for each track.

Also can you please give me some idea of what Ill need to connect to what and the number and type of cables I’ll need ?

Sorry for bombarding you with all these questions mate !

Hey thanks for the reply subculture. I also wish to take decks out of the equation but can’t work out how to get around the no pitch fader. How do you adjust your tempo when using just an X1 and external mixer ? Do you do it directly on your laptop ? I guess that’s one advantage of the DC-2000 over the X1.
