    @RealRasputin

Hey Mate ! Great to hear from you and wow your set up is awesome man !! How on earth do you ever leave the house !?

I’m in Australia and still no one stocks the Zomo so its a real bummer. So the only thing I’ve added to my set up is a pair of HD-25’s which I just love. Next purchase will be the DJM-900 hopefully !

I wanted to get your opinion on effects because with your set up you will be the best person I know to answer this. Do you find that the Pioneer effects on your DJM-900 sound better than the effects off Traktor ? I jam with a mate that has a DJM-800 and CDJ-1000 Mk3 (so I just plug my controller into a spare channel on the DJM). We’ve found that the effects off the DJM sound much brighter and crisper than those off Traktor. The difference is really obvious even after we tried adjusting the Traktor effect in advance settings. Since your set up allows you to use both easily, I figured you may have noticed something similar ?

@Alberto I think you may be missing the point. The video on the last page was made by the Crane people…it is from their website. The “wobble” that I’m referring to is of the mixer or the CDJ that you slide the Crane under not the stand itself. To overcome this problem they brought out the Centre Stage. If you watch the video you will understand what I mean.

Is the “center stage” sold as a completely differnt stand or just a replacement part for the base?

When I last checked it was sold as just a replacement part on its own for $75, which when added to the original cost of the stand makes it a lot more expensive than other stands out there, granted I do like the quality and practicality of the Crane.

I tried to check their website today to see if things had changed but for some reason it kept going through to some dodgy Russian page !!?? I just feel that since Crane themselves have acknowledged the issue, the centre stage could have been priced a bit better.

@shr3dder have to agree with you about those mappings, they’re not the greatest, especially having to use the needle search strip.

The annoying thing is that being such a large controller there was plenty of room for Pioneer to place a few assignable buttons on each deck to “future proof” it a little bit. Especially seeing as though TP2 came out just a year after the DDJ.

Oh well, let us know how you get on with the X1 and if the pairing with the DDJ works well.

What I think you meant to say is this is an alternative to the Crane Stand for people who have their setup in a coffin (with the lid stacked) and are trying to shim the bottom of the crane stand between the two.

Vinny are you sure about the wobble ? I thought that was the whole reason that they brought the centre stage out (as it shows in the video I put up on the previous page)

10/10 !! I had downloaded the trial version of Traktor and spent ages just playing off my laptop and learning the program. I wanted a controller that was going to be plug and play and well integrated with the software. All I remember is that when I finally got it, I only left the house once that week and that was to buy milk for coffee !!

The DDJ-T1 comes with a setting file you can download from the Pioneer website for Traktor Pro 2. This then lets you use decks C & D as samples decks and loop recording. Once you install it you can configure the decks the way you want through the settings in Traktor and its easy to switch back and forth depending on whether you want C & D as regular or samples decks. Here are the relevant links.

    Any solutions or ideas?

Mate anything Denon then Hessler is your man. I’m sure he’ll come across this thread eventually but if you need to solve the problem fast just fire him off a message.

@Rekutt: In that case you should definitely get the S2 whilst this offer is on. This will also come with the full version of Traktor Pro 2 whereas with any other controller you will have to pay for an upgrade. Also the mixer doesn’t have to be the DJM 900 Nexus (that’s just IMO an awesome set up) .. you can pair the Zomo up with a DJM 800 or a lot of other cheaper 4 channel mixers.

@RealRasputin : Hey great to see again man !! Hope all is good…would you believe no one down here stocks the Zomo yet ! Just a quick question for you regarding the beat effects. Does the DJM 900 automatically detect the BPM of the tracks you’re playing off Traktor and does it sync/quantise them with the beat effects ?

Well I mentioned the Zomo because its one of the smallest 4 channel controllers out there.

The Pio DJM 900 Nexus is Traktor certified and can be mapped to act as a stand alone MIDI controller.
http://www.traktorfreaks.com has it available as a free download but geeeez it’s confusing. The advantage
of adding a Zomo is that it provides all your transport controls, has pitch paddles/faders so takes CDJ’s
out of the picture and its such a compact unit

@Rekutt: The Zomo has an inbuilt sound card and by all accounts it sounds awesome. It’s not available where I am yet so I’m still waiting to demo one which I want to pair up with a DJM 900 Nexus. It does not have to be paired with a Pioneer mixer any brand will do. It connects to your laptop with a USB and to the mixer with 4 sets of RCA cables.

This is the link from Phils review & a blog RealRasputin started on it a few weeks ago for more info and pics :

The only guy I know on the forum that has one is RealRasputin. He loves it and says it works great. If you have any specific queries just fire him off a question, he’s a nice guy and sure will help you out.

@shr3dder: You’re totally correct the one draw back is that connecting is not the easiest thing with this unit. You have to be able to access the entire back of the club mixer so if you’re taking over from another DJ you would need to unplug the 3 spare channels, and plug in 3 channels of the zomo, then let the other guy play out, start your set, then plug in the final channel once you’ve started. Also the guy after you will probably hate you … but if you’re a considerate DJ you could plug back CDJ’s / TT’s into channels that you’re not using to make the transition towards the end easier. Guys who use it say if you practise the process a few times at home it’s not a big deal once you know what you’re doing. Also the Zomo doesn’t have to sit behind the mixer you can put it anywhere, even infront if you want:

Rekutt, post: 15218, member: 1514 wrote: Im after just a little mixer advice.

I currently use the mixtrack with a audio 2 soundcard into my macbook pro and traktor pro 2.

Im thinking of getting either the S2 due to its price drop or maybe even the new Xone K2 (when it finally comes out)

    but

I was also thinking of going down the mixer and X1 route – which is more compact and easier to use in club situation.

Is there a usb mixer out there which plugs straight into my macbook pro which has built in audio soundcard with 3 channels so i can route the 3 channels from inside traktor (third channel would be for loops/samples etc)

or would i have to buy an ni audio 6 soundcard and route that into the back of a normal analogue mixer and do it that way?

If so what kind of prices can i expect, i.e. what the cheapest way of going about both routes? ;)))

The nearest thing i can think of is the DJ Tech X10 and a Traktor X1 like in Phils review here but its only 2 channels not the 3 im after ;(
    http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2011/07/dj-tech-x10-digital-mixer-review/

Since you’re considering the mixer + X1 option but want control of more than 2 channels, then I would look at the Zomo MC – 1000. In built sound card with 4 channel control. It’s compact as basically does the job of 2 X1’s.

    + 1 with DJ Hessler

They’re really not designed for that purpose and you’re far better off going with PA speakers if you want to do parties etc

As the name “Near Field Monitors” suggests , they should be around a metre or so away, pointing towards you.

That’s a really nice feature, I didn’t realise VDJ remembers gain adjustments ! I think I should send an email to Native Instruments because it would certainly solve a lot of problems.
