Whilst the DDJ-T1 doesn’t have the build quality of the Denon or and Allen & Heath controller. It’s still a nice unit with a very intuitive layout, easy to use and is completely plug and play with Traktor. I don’t feel that its cheap but as Hessler said it is akin to Pioneers entry level CDJ’s. I would say that it terms of build the DDJ-T1 and S4 are similar but the S4 has a tighter integration with the software which is to be expected as its made by the same company.
I have been lucky enough to try the DDJ, S4 and the Denon . The best bit of advice I can give you is that they all have their strengths and weaknesses and the best thing to do would be to decide on what features are most important to you and then to demo all three at a good DJ store.
erosMemberI agree with DJ Hessler but the only question I have to ask is why you went the S2 + X1 + Audio 2 rather than just getting an S4 ?

And it’s not the smallest controller, but I don’t think the size is unreasonable.
Really nice set up Vinny !! Sweetest of all is that it looks like you’ve got the whole basement to yourself so you can just crank it !erosMemberAlberto, post: 14576, member: 1314 wrote: this is my current setup with no centerstage and rane 56
Thanks for pic Alberto.
erosMemberYes I realise all that, but the point I was making is that if you are sliding it under the mixer or a CDJ (as a lot of people do) then you will get the wobble, hence why they brought out the centre stage as it says in the video. Which is made by the Crane people themselves who have acknowledged that it can be an issue.
erosMemberAtom I found those Allen & Heath XONE:XD-40 for $59 on an eBay Auction.
They have 9 new pairs available, the shop selling them is Pro Audio Star, they are based in NYC. There is 3 days left on the auction. $59 is the “buy now” price but they also accept offers. I would make an offer of $40 to start to see how you go (don’t forget you may have to pay for shipping) Good luck !!
erosMemberIt will be tough to find something decent in that price bracket atom. I did a little looking around and the cheapest decent ones that I know still came in at $89 the XD-40

maybe try eBay / Amazon etc to see if you can find these for a cheaper price, is the only other thing I can suggest
erosMemberatom with headphones especially, there’s no substitute for trying them on , not only to hear how they sound but also from a comfort point of view. Is there a DJ store you can go to to demo a few pairs and see which ones you like ? Also what is your budget ?
erosMemberWell you did say you wanted awesome jogs & a controller that you can scratch with, I think the video will help. The VCI-400 comes with MIDI maps and overlays for Traktor Pro 2 that you can download off the Vestex support page, it’s not a very difficult process.

Always awesome advice , thanks for taking the time to post that.
erosMemberTrack selection and knowing your music is the most important thing. That process for me takes hours every week, going through new tracks and re-discovering old ones and how I can incorporate it all into a set. I can easily do that for trance/progressive/tribal as that’s what I love and grew up with, but no way in hell I could do it for say dubstep. I still have respect for all forms of music as I know the effort & passion that goes into it but also recognise my limitations. I can’t DJ something that I don’t personally listen to.
erosMemberI think this sums up what we’re all trying to say :
erosMemberIn Australia the scene has definitely changed and the popularity of Dubstep is growing in the club scene. As for the mainstream bars & clubs they have continued on with their Guetta-esque commercial house as always. Unfortunately trance is on the decline, Above & Beyond didn’t get close to selling out a venue on their Group Therapy tour and recently Kyau & Albert didn’t even play the main room ! The one positive is that it’s almost becoming underground again because the crowds that do go are the true fans who know their music and the vibe is good, but still to hear that a guy like Joakim played to a room of 15 people is a bit of a slap in the face.
The other problem we have down here is festival overload. There are so many festivals (costing around $200) that most kids will save up to go to 2-3 of these at the expense of regular clubbing. So the regular club night with residents building up a following etc is becoming a thing of the past. Even the festivals are starting to struggle now and most have tried to diversify the acts to appeal to everyone and thus draw a crowd but that’s kind of backfired because if you’re a fan of a certain genre you’re not going to pay that money just to go see 2 acts you like out of 30, over 12 hours !
Final word on Dubstep down here, for most kids Dubstep = Skrillex , I doubt 90% of them would be able to name another artist. The feeling of some of the promoters is that it will have a shelf life of 1-2 years max.
