Thanks for the answers guys, been checking it all out as well as doing some research of my own. It’s a cool style of music and I’ve found a lot of other cool producers (on top of the ones you’ve mentioned) to be Baauer, Luminox, heRobust & DON MIDA$$.

Also just started up a weekly radio show, also on my site: http://justpressrecord.com/radio/hump-day-bumps-show/

Hey you’re not late! We’re just getting started over here! 😉 I think your website looks great! I see it’s more common than I thought to combine the website and blog, it seems to be a great concept! I also like that you have a LOT of content on your site! Only thing constructive I can say is that at first I didn’t notice the icons at the top with search, iTunes and so on. But on the other hand I wasn’t really looking for them so maybe it’s all good as it is… 🙂

So you could land yourself a celebrity girlfriend or a reality show and thus you might blow up. If you want to make it beyond that, then the industry is unfortunately tied to the mess that you need to be producing…mainly to get noticed.

I’ve only seen guys grow to being known locally and occasionally playing elsewhere on DJing alone. Many others who aren’t producers are either promoters or running labels. It’s just gotten extremely hard to only be a DJ and “make it”.

It’s a shame too since you see how these big fests have become more about making an appearance over playing a solid set.

Was just gonna write something similar to this. I don’t think also being a producer is absolutely necessary, but you will need to have something to make you stand out a lot from the rest. This might be a very developed image (I’m thinking of DJ BL3ND with his mask and Youtube-videos) or as D-Jam wrote a celebrity girlfriend or reality tv-show. That said I think being a producer is by far the easiest way to get noticed, granted that your tracks are, you know, good. 😉

Like http://www.house-mixes.com/ or http://www.mixcrate.com/ or http://promodj.com/ or http://www.mix.dj/

Choose for yourself what kind of host fits you best.

Oh great I’ll look into that, thanks! 🙂

Mines just bs until I have it designed. I just wanted the domain name.

It’s still a great to have something to tell people and the way you link all of your social networks helps them get in touch! That’s one of the big reasons to have a webpage I think.

I would make a box/banner of some sort at the top right above the navigation line. This would allow you to more clearly outline your name/logo contact info.

Keep up the great work.

Yeah I agree. I’ve actually tried to design that part better but everytime I open Photoshop and try to fix it I just end up with stuff that looks worse. 😛 But thanks for motivating me to keep trying! 🙂

Looks great to me! Although I don’t understand why you need a searchbox, but on the other hand I guess it couldn’t hurt 😀

Gone through and “double-liked” everyone now 😉
Would be awesome if a few of you would like return the favor 🙂

I always use the power adaptor for my macbook and I have never noticed it affecting the battery life. I’m pretty sure that newer batteries such as those in Macbooks don’t have any “charging memory”-bugs(not sure if it’s called that in english) or mechanical “wear and tear” that old rechargeable batteries used to have.

Also, a friend once told me that the processor of most laptops are slower when the power supply isn’t plugged in, which scared me into never unplugging my power supply. If anyone has any idea on whether this is true or not I’m very curious to hear it!

Looks great to me! I found using tumblr for my blog was really great, although I personally wanted to keep my blog and my website a bit separated. But your take on using it as a website is interesting and I like it!

I have to say I have a pretty static site: http://www.terry-42.com
as I do most of my stuff on facebook nowadays… but it is good to have an entry point, as I still have the website on my business cards.

Really easy to overview I think! All the information is right there and you don’t have to look for it. Although I don’t speak german… 😉

Everything you use as your website counts! 🙂 Nice! Although maybe a short text about yourself would be interesting to read?

Lots of good content I think! Do you recommend putting your setup on your website like you did? (saying what laptop you got and such)

Dj Neonglass (NL), post: 23834, member: 1183 wrote: 🙂 Hi Hesseldunk Dj,
First of all; welcome to this forum!
I have visted your website, and it looks really good. (no typical “Dj website”, but alternative)
Good graphic designed, clear (no un-usefull info), and even a Press kitt to download too.
Very good work !

My website is not so beautiful designed as yours, but i have all my mixes online there
& for everybody free to download. I,ve seen that you have linked your mixes on your page
with your Mixcloud account. It’s a pity that people who are interested in your music,
can’t download your mixes on Mixcloud. (or maybe you want it like this)

By the way, my website is ; http://www.house-mixes.com/artists/Dj_Neonglass/

Wow great feedback, thanks! 🙂 I know mixcloud doesn’t allow users to download(maybe it is illegal? hehe). It would be great to put the mixes up for download but right now I don’t have enough space for it on my website host. But I see how it’s a good idea to let them download it so they can listen to it on their ipods and such!

+1 on this! Just remember to hit “Copy files to the iTunes Media folder” in advanced preferences. (or something like that, my iTunes is in Swedish hehe )

Great thread! I’ll go through and like everyone! Would love it if you guys could get my like count up a bit: http://www.facebook.com/hesseldunk 🙂

I’ve got a Moombahcore and a Drumstep mix coming up on my page the following week along with a video and a new song I’ve produced. If that is of interest 😉
