ParticipantWell the station is very much a community station that hosts alot of talk shows with a light scattering of music shows, not very dance based, its quite an ‘alternative’ station, nothing really commercial, besides its a non profit at the moment. The target audience is certainly mature, 25-40 somethings in general, my target audience are around the same age group generally fans of more leftfield music but the station also has a good listeners network across a number of European coutries and even worldwide, according to the MD they have around 10,000 unique listeners so far and they want to position themselves as a current affairs/plus alternative music station although its hard to pin down exactly what he means by that.

As im strapped for cash at the mo i was wondering if i could use my RELOOP JOCKEY 3, but then the Mikro only has a USB connection so how would i connect it to my reloop? Wouldnt i need an external interface to do that? My laptop PC soundcard is pretty standard so im pretty sure the sound wont be that good.

Participantİ forgot to answer your question about what kind of dj you want to be….radio dj is one and it seems that you already are…if you want to play out then then it all depends on where you play and to whom….first work that out and then maybe your a step closer to your answer.
I used to be a genre specific dj..mainly house and disco…i widened my tastes drastically because of the changing crowds i was djing to so alt depends on your target audience. You also said that you can mix on many types of gear which suggests to me you NEED to get out and DJ!! Find a bar or any venue where you can play across many genres.
Participantwell firstly there is nothing wrong with having more than one identity…so consider different names for different sets/VENUES if you wish to seperate genres and sets. However if you ONLY play on the radio and you have freedom to play whatever you want i cant see why you have an identity crisis…? it sounds like a dream gig to me.

ParticipantThanks for the reply terry…ive been really confused and apprehensive about the switch over as i was and in some ways still am an obssesed vinyl dj but since switching to digital ive enjoyed it more than i could ever imagine. İ know that the best jugde are our ears but i just needed some solid advice from forum members rather than getting into too much technical quagmires on so many other forums.
Participantwell after moving to a country where almost NOBODY dances to anything i play i just dont bother, instead i play what i like, however if i had to choose then anything thats a bit tropical/latin in flavour usually does the trick.
ParticipantThere are a tonne of re-edit labels on Juno Download…. GAMM/Basic Fingers/UTC and many more i cant remember at the moment…there is some really good stuff but alot of it is not well known…although
‘The Reflex’ is a good place to start,hes probably the most well known re-edit artist. Like you said its not always easy finding this stuff particularly the well known stuff. So Soundcloud is the place to go however i feel that many of the mp3s are poorly mastered and don’t really sound good enough for club play which is ironic really.Participantdo you mean option key and alt key together and if so where is the option key?

Participantok i see, the third rule in your example is causing a conflict, what im trying to do is add multiple artists so i i state for example Rule One- artist contains rolling stones, 2nd rule artist also contains the beatles, 3rd rule comments contain etc x,y,z. İ presumed that the playlist would contain rolling stones AND beatles tracks and other tags ive added in the comments.
Phew its really troubling me…but i’ll get there eventually…thanks so much for all your help.
ParticipantOK that makes sense, but i still cant work out why when i choose to add a third rule all dissappears…what is the third button on the right of each rule..thers is minus,plus and ?
Anyway sorry for all the dumb questions,,,thank you for youre help
