Worst thing would have to be back in the day when I was under-age, and only played under-age gigs. One gig, some drunk/stoned/mindfucked kid jumps in to the booth (which was a table in the corner of the room on a drum raise) and starts trashing our amps at the back of the booth. Myself and my brother (who’s doing lights for me) promptly give this punter a few to the face, and chuck him over the decks back into the crowd!

Now that I play licensed events, it amazes me how well behaved people are compared the the brats I played for back then.

Agreed. Also for stage presence, bangin’ tunes and sheer mayhem, Dada Life are big favourites of mine.

There’s nothing quite like pumping their remix of Martin Solvig – Hello over 4000W of house sound system 😀

Shortest would have to have been a 15min competition set, the longest would be 6.5 hours of house party – thats kills. No energy left for bump out at all!

Perth, Western Australia! The most isolated capital city in the world!

And completely devoid of a non-Top 40 type club! 🙁 Unfortunatly, commercial stuff rules here. The locals have no taste…..

Tell me about it…. I think he was inspired to get such a set-up after getting to know a local (pro) DJ who is a CDJ nut. And the fact that he couldnt get his Numark DJ I/O soundcard to work properly. Ahh well, it’s his cash.

Probably some new cans. I’m currently using my studio cans, which do the job, but have crappy isolation and have no flexible cups. I’ve been eyeing off the Pioneer HDJ-1000s, they’re right in my price range =D Anybody have any suggestions?

    Hey Crysix

Definatly go with the Mixtrack Pro, as it’s a all-in-one kind of solution, saves fussing around buying a soundcard.

I own the Mixtrack Pro, and I cant praise it enough. It has fantastic jogs, plenty of controls (so you can to all the important stuff) and is reasonably well built. I take it to gigs every second week and it works great!

I also have a friend who owns the Mixtrack (no sound card) and has grown frustrated with it as he has no cue, and has now decided to spend $4000 on CDJ900s + DJM700….. after DJing for about 4 months. Can’t say thats a cheap choice, but that’s his money….

I may sound like a broken record here, (especially if you visit another certain Digital DJ forum), but for me, it’d have to be a Traktor S4.

Why? Portable, all in one, customisable, and lots of fun!!! As my current bread & butter is DJing at parties, it’s way more portable then a set of CDJs or 1200s (trust me, once owned CDJs!)

    Now to save for one……
