May 16, 2012 at 9:23 pm in reply to: What are your tricks for keeping motivated in your DJ practice sessions? #1004513MaximleeBlockedlistening to mixes from djs i love… you gotta do stuff to remind yourself of why ure in this game and what u want to aspire to. main mix at mo is richie hawtin in london in feb. http://soundcloud.com/r_co/richie-hawtin-live-new
also listen to any sasha mix…. taking sounds from one record throu two tunes… the mans mixing is simply breath taking…. it just makes me work harder at getting them records to work….. recording ever mix so you are alway in preformance mode…under pressure
Set projects for yourself so your not aimlessly doing a mix…. contantly doing demos and giving mixs for gifts for friends bdays etc… i only mix tracks that i love and move my very soul… so i can listen to my own mixs on my way to work gym etc…
alot of my friends are amazing djs but ask them for a mix… u never get it… there is something about that record button… so record everything

MaximleeBlockedI’m sure you can DJ without them but you won’t look as cool…lol im just saying there the best. Its not the headphones or the mixing that makes the DJ its the music. Well slated are headphones… I guess.. Each to there own really.
MaximleeBlockeda use traktor because its the best… its that simply..,lol its all depends on what music you dj.. if you linear mix then any program thats solid is good but if you want to take dj to the next level and put ure personal stamp on ure mixs then traktor is the way to go. its the most solid program on the market with the best effects.
MaximleeBlockeddr dre headphones are aimed at young kids who wanna look cool walking down the street. they are not dj headphones full stop.. they are such a unbalanced headphone.. to what range???? bass of course. maybe if you dj hiphop.. but for real music…. cutting edge electronica.. you need pioneer HDJ2000… If you put a pair of these on.. you will not walk out of the shop without them.. its that simply
MaximleeBlockedDenon mc3000 YouTube it. Pro star audio do a review.. Closest to what you need
MaximleeBlockedi think uve hit the nail on the head there RB75… yeah that was basicially my point explained better… Yeah have a earlier version of traktor so not uptodate with the new features. thanks very much for reply. now im happy to buy 😀
MaximleeBlockedOn the verge of buying reloop jockey three but there is alittle thing that worrying me that i would love some feedback on from a current user… im sure alot of people buy it so they can hook up cdjs and turntables so may not come across this problem… but i am buying for the four deck control feature, in which i see a massive flaw…
If for example i have a track playing on deck A and i have a track cued and ready for play on track B but have a idea of a bongo loop from the intro of a record that would go well with deck As record that will give extra groove and can be used to aid transition with effects etc…. so i load the track into deck C and cut the bass and highs off on the controller… so the bongos fit in the mix… all going good so far, then i flip back to deck A cau the mix is about to happen and need to swap the basses for example… well as i cut the bass and highs on the knobs when in deck C they will still be in that position… any movement and the audio will jump in volume…
now i hope that i have explained that right… but it something that is not covered in any video review or demo that i have seen… but for me its massive cau yes im only starting out… but i know what i want to be able to do and this is such any example. Of course i havent got one to test out but i would love if someone that has one could explain how it works in this situation….? i mean the only way i can see is that you do these edits with mouse in software but this defeats the point of having a four deck controller..
MaximleeBlockedSomething that has just dawned on me and as you have the reloop you are in a good place to answer jahitty (thanks for all your feedback by the way)

MaximleeBlockedYeah it is tough..just thinking that friends in Manchester have deck so if I took over I could hook up the reloop and everyone would be happy. Yeah went completely off S2… Just read that in the 2.5 upgrade of traitor you can have up to 64 samples per deck… I think that the denon and reloop offer more control than S2. Read alittle bit about the jog wheel on reloop beening alittle off.. Is this true.. Just seen Dj Angelo demo vid of reloop… Looks so slick.

MaximleeBlockedbeen checking out… the denon is 150 cheaper than reloop…. this may sway me
MaximleeBlockedCheck out both and the denon looks mint… But the reloop jockey has more features. Even thou I’m only stating out really it would still be good to have all that I will ever need in one box.. Instead of having to buy another one in 6-8months cau I want a line input. Saying that thou the denon looks the Business… It looks so well built. Yeah these two controllers make the S2 look like a over priced plastic toy.
the denon is definitely the best I guess the question that I have to answer is… Do I really need inputs :D. Thanks for replys. Got it narrowed down to two 😀
MaximleeBlockedwell the only little thing that would be an advantage is a slot so i could add in an external source if laptop crashed…alot of controller havent got thou,, will check the two you have mentioned. you against the S2 then?
