Rainer takes you through a logical series of exercises explaining everything even better than the Native Instruments Traktor Manual does. PM if you like, I’ll help if I can.
I also got the book and learned alot about mapping from their as well. Also checked out alot of the mapping videos on youtube…specifically from Dj Shiftee and Endo
Michael LawrenceParticipantI looked into it but wasnt a fan of using my S2 like that. I peferred to have other controllers. I use my maschine mikro to control cue points in deck c and d if needed plus I mostly use the remix decks.
You should actually check out the mapping section in Dj Tech tools. They have a bunch you could choose from. The one I first checked out was from there. I forget which buttons they assigned to switch between decks but it was quite seamless. Just not my style.
Michael LawrenceParticipantOne of my controllers; the maschine mikro is awesome because I can use it to produce in maschine, as a midi controller in ableton or to control my cue points and effects in Traktor. Flexibilitiy is key. It is also small, portable but packs crazy power 😉 God I can go on for days here lol
Michael LawrenceParticipantIf you can listen to your old stuff with a non bias ear and point out mistakes that you have made. Or even areas that you good have improved. I.e. “What was I thinking with that bass or I should have faded this out it would have sounded much better”.
Michael LawrenceParticipantI actually have both and use them quite differently. Made my own mapping in maschine to control effects in Traktor and my cue points. I also use maschine to produce. Two very different tools, 1 awesome experience.
I think you first need to decide what you want to do and how you want to play. I bought my s2 first had it for 6 months then got maschine then I got he f1 like 4 months after so I had alot of time in between everything to learn before I added something new.

yeah I do that one as well when Im making some drastic changes and switchin up the genere. Pretty key!
Michael LawrenceParticipantHave you looked at getting maschine. It has the software and the controller. Probably should look into it as the workflow isnt for everyone however I do like it alot!
Michael LawrenceParticipantI tend to look for songs that have a long breakdown or a long reverb tail with white noise. You can pretty much start any song after this as it will blend naturally without the use of any effects.
Michael LawrenceParticipantCheck out the below article and video by Dj Endo has alot of good information in there.
Yes you can add key information. If you use Mikex in Key make sure you specify which column you want the information to be added. I use the comments section so it all shows up there.
not sure waht you mean about doubling exisitng songs. You only need to add songs in once. There is an icon in the itunes node in traktor that shows if a song is already in your collection so you dont add twice.

Michael LawrenceParticipantI back up everything on my laptop every week or so. If somethign were to happend then I would def like to revert to the most recent update with no issues. Then I have some music on a memory stick (enough to get through a whole gig). Then I also save some of my mapping templates and things like that in my email.
Michael LawrenceParticipantJust bought my ticket to Electric Daisy Carnival in June. Vegas here I come…again! lol ….GAME FACE ON!
