ParticipantI used numark controllers for a long time, from my experience mixtrack series works better with virtual dj (easier settings, full simulation etc). Serato is also good, but has caused me a few problems in setting outputs and soundcard. Why don’t you also try traktor, if you have not done already?
ParticipantSanta Creek congrats for the headset, we have the same one 😛 In my opinion also, It’s very important experiencing other ways and sources of mixing when you have already get used not only to the basics, but also when you are advanced in different ways of mixing, looping, beatmatching etc. A very good start for an upcoming DJ is a cheap but reliable MIDI (Mixtrack Pro was my first own mixer,snif) and when he is and feels ready he can make the next step to a more advanced MIDI controller or look for other ways, like me. I think that’s the way it goes!
As for different CD players, as i said above, money don’t always make the quality. You have to choose wisely and always for your own good and skills. The best is what Vintage does: a good first-team controller with his laptop and a very good substitution, often in a good combination 😉 that’s the way a good DJ should work, having a lot of choices and use them for any situation.
Personally, as i have already said, after working with MIDI’s for 4-5 years, i am in the way of discovering analog world, 3 days before i bought my Behringer DJX750 and trust me, for home and some events is a great value-for-money, i give it 4,5/5 stars because i wanted a better built-in FX system. I hope i’ll have my CD’s till Christmas 😀

ParticipantAlso i want to notice something else: Traktor worked perfectly with my controller in windows 8, but in my other computer with windows 7, it couldn’t recognize my controller. Do you have any idea about that, too?
ParticipantHello again! I have to agree with the last two friends who replied saying that there are other excellent cdj systems. Generally, i think that there are a lot of brands, not only in dj systems but in a lot of products, where you pay the name more than the product. If you want my opinion about cdj systems, from the few things i know, Denons are very good, but the best value-for-money machines are Numark and Behringer, especially when you know what you want, for what puproses you buy and how much experience you have. Yes, Pioneers are state of arts but in many cases you do not need to pay “Pioneer”
ParticipantWell i have to admit i didn’t know that you have so many years in djing, i didn’t know your age, so asking if you have ever tried vinyls is obviously big joke, so i have to apologise about the question 😛 and respect your experience (you have more years of experience than my age, i’m almost 24) 🙂 And it’s obviously a great thing that technology has progressed, i’m not against it…i just put things in a more emotional way 🙂 Thank you again for this great conversation!

Terry_42, i don’t know if it’s past, present or future and i don’t care what it is. My opinion about that is you shouldn’t say that this is old or this is new or something, because a new thing will be old maybe in a month, or next day, you can’t say that 🙂 all that matters is what you want to do and how you want to do it, and as far as mixing is concerned, every way of mixing can be “new”. And that, because every way of mixing has its own beauty! Have you ever tried to mix with turntables and vinyls? It’s a unique feeling, a vintage style. In conclusion, and of course with no offense in your opinions, nothing is old in mixing, apart from the technology. It’s how you make it sound 😉

ParticipantDj Vintage thank you very very much about the answer. When i said browsing from the mixer, I meant the whole set of cdplayers and the mixer, so browsing from the cdplayers (hid or usb) is good, so i’m ok with the subject. Sorry for the confusion, but my english is not very good. As for the equipment, i know Pioneers and Denons are state-of-art models but i’m not going to use it for clubbing puproses and also my funds are very few. So I was thinking of two numark ndx400’s or ndx500’s (when they are available to my country), for home parties, little events and of course for home practise.
As for the last subject you mentioned, I wanted to make a step to mixing with analog systems and learn on my own something new. I don’t have any help from anybody, noone in my family or from my friends has any sense with djing, so it’s often with me to have a little “silly” questions 🙂 But my opinion is that when you want to learn something, especially when it’s a life dream, you will start with that kind of questions 😉 -
