    Well first of all, Welcome!
I’m assuming you mean you don’t have any direct connections with other DJ’s and whatnot.

To get started, look around the threads and just start reading. Go through thread after thread and read. Even if it’s a topic you don’t understand really well just see what people are saying about it. Eventually you’ll start grasping the DJ vocabulary and things will start to make a bit more sense. Also, read this websites articles. They.Are.Amazing. That and with this great community of helpful DJ’s, you’ll be up and running in no time.

I play drums and piano but drums will always be my favorite! Playing along to Metallica and The Mars Volta is the most fun you can have when beating the crap out of things.

Living in Tampa right now but finishing up my Spaniard citizenship. Traveled there in March to visit my family and absolutely fell in love with Madrid. I want to move there by next year and look for employment there (not as a DJ =P i’m majoring in Aviation Administration). Only thing that sucks is that employment over there is worse than here in the U.S. 🙁

Sorry for thread hacking but it’s pretty relevant to the topic and didn’t want to start a new thread.

    1)Mixtrack Pro
    or
    2)Mixtrack + Audio 2 DJ

Same price. I’ve just heard so many good things about the audio 2 DJ that it seems like best of both worlds in this situation

I’ve been starting off with Electro House and Prog House. These are the genres i’ve noticed that I really enjoy the most when i’m out at clubs. These are also the genres that I’ve started to build my library with (although the occasional tech house or dubstep track that catches my eye joins the club).

this song has recently came into my life and has been proving to be quite the crowd pleaser personally

Yea, at clubs I go to people rather enjoy this one (although, personally not one of my favorites).

again, great advice guys. Hadn’t really crossed my mind of actually checking out DJ sets on youtube  (which is the opposite of what I did when I learned to play drums. I literally would start and stop those videos till i figured out EXACTLY what they were doing). Will deff. apply that process to DJing.

And now that I think about it, that mix yesterday gave me the same feeling I used to get when I would learn a song I really liked or came up with a sick solo.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys, really appreciate it. From what I’ve read, It looks like the Audio 2 is where it’s at! I could get this thing as soon as next week so that’s gonna be the plan. Next step would probably be a very simple mixer (just something as basic as a crossfader and 3 band EQ) something like an M-Audio XSession Pro or Numark M3. I don’t want to invest too much in a mixer because I really want to get the S4 by the end of the year.
