i belong to 3 dj pools; which is a bit of overkill if u asked me. sooooo many tracks, not enough time in a day : (

I might head up to a local Guitar Center and get a Coffin Case for it just to help with transporting it. I could kind of tell that 4 channels would only work well with House, anything else seems like it might get a little out of hand. Are you going to upgrade to Serato DJ for free in the spring and use that?

yeah, all serato products i think are going to serato dj. one platform. im really digging that new pioneer joint, the ssx. but anywho, overall satisfied

I’ve had the NS6 of just a little over a year now and I love it. Its just a pain to haul around due to its size. The possibilities are endless. Im a mobile Dj and I play everything. There are a bunch of youtube videos including the Dj cerla one where he is doing his thing. This was also my 1st 4 deck controller but I really dont use all four decks unless I am playing house. Loop rolls are fun and the riser effects are pretty fun. Like all new toys, practice practice, practice. I love the response of the jogs, and the only real problem I have ever had was that I needed to replace the usb cable. O and the cross fader is starting to bleed but thats from me really not taking care of it during transportation from gig to gig. The sync button really helps when you are using 4 channels. Its a bitch to try and beat match 4 tracks while adding fx and transitions. Just make sure your library is in good order as far as cue points, beat grid and all. I mean still today it sits on the upper tier of controllers. Its jammed packed with 5 cue points, the sp-6 sampler, a nice array of fx, love that tremelo and hp high and lp low. Its been my work horse and I am a satisfied customer.

o, its an expression I use when a dj is just playing one track right into another one with-out regard to beat matching or mixing in key

As a mobile dj, I always have a certain amount of my mix cds on me for this reason. I am not sure what the laws are in your part of the world and to tell you the truth, Im not really sure about the laws in my country regarding this issue either, but mix tapes have been around forever and will always be. I get my music through 3 different Dj pools so I do not do the illegal download stuff. If I am paying for my music, and put together a mix that I did, not just fader jockeying but a REAL mix, I myself do not feel that either giving away or asking a small donation for the mix is wrong. This is how I survive; gaining more business from referrals or looking at the cd as a demo of sorts. I cannot begin to tell you how many more gigs (income) I have gained through the “mix tape” thing. Some big name Djs started off in the mixtape game and now have blown up and are making millions. So its on you man, whatever makes you sleep happy at night. That hag was wrong to drop a dime to your manager about you doing the right thing and all, but life is a hustle and if it aint making dollars, then it aint making sense ya dig? O, and as far as handling aggressive guest and all, consider your cherry being broken and congrats. This is something that you will get better at over time and every Dj goes through this. Just make sure they keep their drinks away from your equipment for I had to learn the hard way once. I know my views on the subject matter are probably not going to go over well with other Djs out there, but I am keeping it 100 and I speak for the underground side of the business. One love!!

yeah I feel you, I once too decided to do a free gig at a new venue but I knew it was going to work in my favor. It was a friends birthday and I had easy 50-75 people that were confirmed to come, we just needed a space and I figured that if I told the owner let me spin and we will go off the % of the bar. Total bar take was like $3900 or so and that was fine for me. I got to throw a free party and got paid for it lol. Even better, I ended up getting a weekly gig out of it down the line. But, I kind of have to side with the commenters above. If you are looking for a dj, then you get a dj. If you need a promoter, then get a promoter. I think that some bar owners believe that if they can pawn off both jobs only on the dj and only pay if the make a profit on that night. If your club sucks, has a bad rep, then its bad business to solely relay on the acts you book to make your spot successful and I have seen many of bars fail due to this. This was btw a new club that used to be an old club that didnt make it.

caught a house party gig for a friend, 5 hours, $250 plus all i can eat and drink. I like to stay away from the club scene on New Years here in Chicago, Il. People on that night tend to over do it and I really cant see myself hanging with the “douce bag” crowds that come out.
