are you using good quality mp3s? Had to trash a few songs when I decided it was a good idea to import a friends hard drive. he had tracks as low as 128 kbs to even 96 kbs!!

The current setup they have are 4 Pk monitors and 4 18″ bassbins already exist there. We bring in an additional 2 monitors and 2 yamaha subs…and we actually promote the night as such. “Bass In YO FACE!” “Shake the house” etc.

And it goes over really well…our nights are arguably the best nights in this venue…and everyone that works there loves having us do our nights cuz they know they are going to be making good money. This is a true underground club though…and you will see real ravers come here…not the Punters that come to listen to top40 remixes…Im talking full on Kandi kids…furry leg ravers, and crazy hair, and yes a lot of people just wacked out of their mind on drugs.

Its actually one of my favorite nights to play because i can just bang out big heavy ass tracks and people go off the wall…As well i can let songs go into some great breakdowns and i dont get a bunch of punters just standing there going uhhh am i suppose to be doing something right now?

    wow. Nice!!!!!!

But they do not compare to something like the SRM450v2s. ( Mackie Subs suck balls on the other hand)

I have a hard time believing that 1-550 watt loud speaker and 1-1800 production sub will bang out a 200 person venue…a really hard time believing that.

Having used everything from Studio monitors to 40k PK Sound systems…I like to think i know a few things regarding Speaker setups…and what you say just doesnt really ring true for me.

Even if you are able to shake the house with 1 550 watt loud speaker and 1 1800 production sub…the lifespan of those 2 speakers is going to be VERY short.

The Value of a great speaker isnt just the sound quality and affordability, its also how long will they last you?

the srm450 are the work horse of the mobile dj set up for years. I agree with that. as far as the 200 person venue thing, i guess you just had to be there. wasnt like a 200 ppl in a huge club setting but what mobile dj takes their own speakers to a venue that size? the place was a legal capacity sixe of 250 patrons. it was a larger bar type place. and im not saying that it was all over blaring in the face. but it held up the entire 6 hr gig and i was even told to turn it down a notch with no clipping. go out and test those speakers. I get it, cheap is not always good, but my good i was blown away by these babies. way better than jbl eons or any same catorgory speaker imho

I wish i could play with each brand and product to assess them myself but a lot of my browsing is online and every site is going to praise their own product. I might just have to go with one, and if It’s a flop then I’ll have that much more knowledge to help me in the future.

go to a guitar center or sam ash or any other retailer, they will show you their products. : )

my man here was talking about his 1st dj set up. you cant go wrong with the price point. Ive had problems with the makies the 1st 2 weeks i bought them. Had the berhs for over a year. Nobody talking top shelf here ya know what I mean. Shit if I had the loot id buy all qsc but I don’t. my 2 cents dont sleep on the berhs because they are good speakers. and if they blow, i always buy the extended 3 yr no worry warranty from my #1 sound retailer. No WORRIES man. : )

this is all great advice and i agree with most. but for the mean time while you are building up your name and are semi-forced to play mainstream, play some remix version of that familiar tune and/or do your own mash up of it. show your skill on the level of a dj, not the dj who fader jocks left to right, add effects, flare, let the crowd know that you are the center stage, cutting up a track, using an effect sparingly. Be cautious not to over do it. But let’em know that theres a dj up there not a fuckn jukebox. just my 2 cents.
