Thank u for taking the time to reply Mat and Terry 🙂

Going by what Mat says, the UDG won’t fit all my gear. So I’ll have to prolly rule it out, despite its excellent build….

Also, having recently seen Phil’s review of the Digi Control Backpack by magma, it seems that too won’t fit all my required gear…

Another suggestion I received was the Magma multipurpose bag….

It seems choosing a bag is harder than choosing a laptop :3

    Hey there,

If u ask me, flight cases are an obsolete way of transporting gear. You could look at
    1) https://www.udggear.com/by-device/native-instruments/traktors4/udg-urbanite-midi-controller-backpack-medium-black
    2) https://www.udggear.com/by-device/native-instruments/traktors4/udg-ultimate-midi-controller-backpack-small-black-orange-inside

These are just 2 bags…. U could even look at the many similar bags made by Odyssey, Magma, Namba etc. These bags won’t only fit all your equipment, but also will weigh much less than a proper case. These bags provide ample protection for ur gear, as well as u can take these bags as cabin luggage with u on a plane, instead of handing it to the luggage handlers who’ll probably toss ur precious gear into the hold.

they’ll also cost u only a small fraction of the price that u’ll pay for a flight case. And if u wanna raise ur laptop while performing, u could buy a laptop stand and still stay within budget.

But then, this is just my opinion 😉

Do not wait for *new upcoming gear that hasn’t yet been announced yet”.

If u r passionate about the art, then don’t hesitate to pay for the tools, bcuz it’s an investment. The XDJ-RX is only unit right now which can allow u to not keep ur laptop anywhere near ur setup. However, if u r not willing to shell out so much, decide ur software – Traktor / Serato and opt for a controller like the NV/NS7II/NS7III/Kontrol S8 which will allow u to essentially close ur laptop’s lid or at least tuck it out of sight.

Frankly, u can’t get all that features under $300….. The cheapest option i think would be a Beatmix 4 with a Reloop Neon…. But even that would cost $500 and won’t give u all the features u need….. Or else, if u wanna keep ur setup minimal, the Reloop TM8 or Numark NV would be a good bet at aound $700.

Just remember – u get what u pay for.

    Thnx a ton Terry!!! 😀

Just a last question – how does the HDJ C70 by pioneer compare to the HD25?

So I’m guessing u used the T1 with Traktor software, and thus i’m saying, it’s not a feasible option switching ur software to serato dj. even if u plan on using the SZ with Traktor – bad choice, cuz Native Instruments is now focusing only on its poducts and slowly ditching 3rd party controller support.

That said, u can go either for a modular setup with the D2/F1/X1 etc (whatever suits ur taste), or u could go with the Kontrol S8 which is a great piece of hardware and has a relatively compact footprint. If u r quite intrigued by the idea of ditching ur laptop, then u should definitely go for the XDJ-RX provided it is up to scratch for ur needs.

So u basically gotta decide ur worklow and ur needs and see if u wud like to hv ur laptop in the booth, or would u want to leave it at home….. And yea, avoid switching from Traktor to Serato as it will set u back quite a bit.

Since u hv been using Traktor till now, it’s better u stick to traktor. Bcuz changing ur software is not a good move. So my advise would be to get some NI gear that suits ur style of DJing

What would u recommend betwn the RHP30 and Mixrs based on my needs? (Bcuz if HD25 was an option that would be the blind answer 😛 )

    So far –

    1) Beats Mixr – ticks all 3 boxes namely production, djing and lifestyle.
    2) HD25’s – Although the industry standard, not suitable for long term listening as well as for djing at high volumes
    3) RHP 30 – can tick all boxes
    4) M50x – Good for studio use, ok for djing and lifestyle.

    Any cans i’m missing?

Also, what’s ur opinion on the LP2’s by V-Moda?

mixcloud is for mixtapes….. unless ur file exceeds 5 mins in time, it can’t be uploaded on mixcloud

    1) The treble on the HD25 1-ii is quite aggressive, harsh and fatiguing… Hence it is not so suitable for listening at very high volumes.

    2) Aren’t the Mixr’s a very uncomfortable fit? Nevertheless, according to @Terry_42 – is it suitable for an amateur guy like for for production etc?

    3) I am not totally into production right now…. So i guess i might be fine with a little bass and colouration in my cans while i’m producing….

    4) I’m looking at the K267 bcuz it has adjustable bass so as to go flat (Studio) and bassy (stage), but i’m not sure if it’s durable, as ppl say the hinge snaps easily.

    5) Terry, could u explain what exactly do u mean by ‘sound hole’?

    6) If i go the HD25 route (although i don’t want to…..), what’s the difference betwn the 1-ii and the aluminium edition?

    7) Also, is the RHP20 and RHP30 sound signature suitable for production?

    8) Is the M50x suitable for DJing and is it durable?

    Thnx in advance 🙂
P.S – sorry for the never ending questions
