Thanks for the info! I was reading an article on how dj mixes were being uploaded as a test to ensure everything is okay. It turns out, there’s a difference between a mashup and a mix (I usually do small mashups of songs, instead of longer mixes). What I tried uploading was a mashup, not a mix. While these terms are being treated as two, separate categories, in my opinion, I believe they’re the same thing (I take both original recordings, and implement them in a certain way). There’s plenty of other sources I use, I just figured I’d give the site a second chance. I’ll stick to uploading somewhere else. After all, it’s intended for songwriters and producers. DJs just use the songs, and make something out of it. Overall, I don’t want to be a reason why Soundcloud isn’t available to those independent artists.

Hi, Terry! I thought that at first too, but then I read an article somewhere that mixes are legal, according to the co-founder. At first, I figured they were just bluffing, but more articles kept coming up, including one from here. I could’ve read it incorrectly, but they’re allowing mixes due to Soundcloud Go (I believe it’s their version of Apple Music). There’s probably certain restrictions which I didn’t read.

You are so right!! There is nothing wrong with any of the controllers I currently have. I just have this fear of them discontinuing a model, causing me to no longer update the drivers, or run out of replacement parts.

The whole reason why I bought the Beatpad was so that I could use Spotify and Djay with it to be able to take more requests. When I bought the unit, I found it difficult working with Djay (I’m a Traktor user). I sat there sort of upset because I spent $600 on something I thought would work for me.

As for the 4Trak, I still have yet to release it’s full potential. What I thought could only work on the Beatpad, works with the 4Trak (If only I found that sooner). I see the Beatpad as a great controller, just not for me. No matter how much research you do on something, you don’t know unless you try it! I read loads of reviews on the Beatpad, all glowingly positive, but I never saw it firsthand. I tend to rely on the Internet a lot because there are no DJ stores where I live. It is starting to get annoying because I spend a hefty amount of my own money, and want something else a year later. Maybe it’s because I’m 17 and I still have a LONG ways to go in learning. Looking at the S5, sure it’s expensive, but it could improve my workflow by looking only at the screens instead of my laptop. I know I sort of bashed it in a previous post, but I realized now I can turn the brightness down all the way and move it to the side.

In conclusion, I thank you for your honesty! You just saved me a boatload of money down the road!

UPDATE: I figured out the issue was with the power adapter provided with my 4Trak. The seller gave me an after-market adapter, causing it to feel loose in the audio interface.

UPDATE: Hey everyone! I would like to thank those who contributed in this topic. I decided it was best to go with the L1 Compact System because of its even sound in all areas. It came with a bass module, which acts as a subwoofer and stand. Bose was having this 10% off sale that is hard to pass up considering their products don’t go on sale that often.

That’s pretty awesome! I noticed that the Dave 8 Roadie has a built-in three channel mixer while the others don’t. This may sound like a dumb question, but is the setup any different from the bigger models? If it isn’t, what is required for the proper setup? I normally use two XLR cables that plug into the inputs of the PA and then the other side goes to the master output on my controller. This just looks different from what I’m accustomed to. Are there any setup videos out there? Thanks!

Thanks! I noticed that there was a significant price difference on both systems. For instance, LD Systems also has the Dave 8 Roadie which goes for $599 and HK Audio has the Lucas Nano 300 that goes for $699. I know it depends on the number of people you have, but should I get the higher model of one company. Is it worth buying the Dave 12 instead of the Dave 8 Roadie? The goes with HK. Is it worth buying the 600 over the 300? I’ve been looking more at the lower-end models. Thanks!

Thank you Dj Vintage! Just so we’re clear, would you recommend the LD Dave 8 or the HK Audio Lucas 300? I do usually dj for gigs that contain so far less than 100 people.

Sorry for the late reply! Thank you guys so much! I wasn’t sure what I was talking about when I said “ohms.” I meant to say amps and volts for my dc power adapter. I took advice from both of you and here is what I found:

I ran the speakers through different sources and noticed a HUGE sound difference! Plugging my Mac into the speakers sounded awful, much worse than it did with the controller. I also tried a different dj software (Cross Dj) and set my levels to be even. I found out that compared to Traktor with the same even levels, Cross Dj was much louder. This could be because the audio setting was set to “Core Audio” in Cross whereas you needed a driver in order to use the controller with Traktor. I’m unsure if Numark will update the drivers especially if it is discontinued! I want to see how a separate audio interface will do, but maybe it isn’t worth it since I should get smaller, lighter speakers anyway (College is coming up and my mom won’t always be there to help carry equipment). The same motive also applies to the controller. By getting a smaller controller, it is more portable. Again, thanks guys for your awesome input!

I can totally see where you’re coming from! I only typed what I heard so it probably is cheesy. Not to mention, the body is made up of plastic. What’s your budget? Sure the S4 went down in price (599 USD), but you may enjoy Serato more. I would try the “demo” versions of each software since both companies have one. Based on your experience, you can decide which is best. If you pick Traktor, I STRONGLY recommend the S4 due to the amount of features you have! For Serato I’d get either the SX2 (Pioneer 4 Channel) or the SR (Pioneer 2 Channel) since Pioneer is well-known for their products. Also, the S4 can use an iPad if you want! Digital DJ Tips has awesome reviews and you can check out this You Tube channel for another person’s view. As far as I know, both channels and websites have these controllers reviewed. Hope this helps man!

As I have a Reloop Controller myself, and I don’t find them super great really because you don’t hear the name often. If it breaks, it is too much of a hassle to get it fix! It all revolves around which software you want to use: Traktor or Serato. Personally, the S4 is good for Traktor (I’m a Traktor user). Have you considered the Numark NV? It is a Serato Controller like the TM8 but has screens to where you don’t have to look at your laptop. You can even close the laptop and it still works! Its the same price as the TM8! Hope this helps!

It depends on you! If you feel like you mastered the SB, I see no problem in buying a new one! Although it is quite a big jump in terms of cost, it could make your money back in the future! You also need to be aware of what each one has to offer. In my personal opinion, I’d say go either one! Sure it may be confusing and complex at first, but it’s better to get it now then later as it saves money in the long run. You won’t have to keep “upgrading.”
