VinnyBlancParticipant
Speakers for playing out at gigs or speakers (monitors) for practicing at your home?
What is your budget?VinnyBlancParticipantI am a huge fan of QSC so I may be a little bias, but I currently have 2x QSC k12 tops and currently saving for 2x KW181s.
My friend uses 2x QSC K10s with 1x QSC KW181 and the bass is solid.VinnyBlancParticipantThanks Terry.
VinnyBlancParticipantVCI-380…
I have owned a Numark NS6, Novation Twitch, Numark Mixtrack Pro II, Pioneer DDJ-SX and this is my favorite controller to date.
VinnyBlancParticipantI love how Serato and iTunes play nice. You can analyze the BPMs of songs in Serato and then they will appear in Itunes. You can also change a genre for a large number of tracks in iTunes and it will show up in Serato….etc.
If you are not using iTunes though, start by creating some basic SMART crates with some basic rules to help organize your music.
VinnyBlancParticipantTerry,
How do we set an Avatar or send PMs to people? A lot has changed!
VinnyBlancParticipantVinnyBlancParticipantNo thoughts?
VinnyBlancParticipantIt comes down to your personal DJing style. I’ve owned and sold the Numark NS6 and Pioneer DDJ-SX because I never used the 4 channels. I’m quite happy with the VCI-380 now.
VinnyBlancParticipantI have a pair of the KRK Rokit 5 G2s and love them. The KRK 10″ is insanely priced, so go with the 6’s if you want a little additional bass.
VinnyBlancParticipantI have found that http://www.mixcloud.com is a little more forgiving on copyright infringement although I don’t use them anymore.
I have found that adding a custom intro to your recorded set usually derails the soundcloud monitoring and I haven’t ran in to an issue. Check out some of my recorded mixes… http://www.soundcloud.com/vinnyblanc

Why a dj would ever need a remote for djing(for corntrolling loops or effects) I just don’t know.
Isn’t it easier/more accurate to control an effect (high pass filter) with a quick swipe of the screen instead of using the laptop to try and do it? Again, this is in a situation where you may not have a 57 or 62 or other hardware controller to control effects…
VinnyBlancParticipantWhere else can you get a midi controller that has perfect intergration where with one touch screen control surface you can activate/set/delete cues / control your effects and do loops / rolls for $20?
This is more of a tool for the SSL users who are not as well represented on this form compared to the Serato DJ users who probably have a majority of this functionality on their midi controllers already.
Adding the Remote App on my Ipad is giving me the same functionality on my Rane TTM56+SL1 ($700) that I could get on the Rane 62 ($2000)….I’m still saving for my 62 thought (don’t get me wrong)….
VinnyBlancParticipantNovation Launchpad is now fully mapped (with lighting) for SSL and Serato DJ
