    You actually can use the LPD8 or any midi device with Itch. However, the amount of functionality you can actually map to it is very limited. When Serato DJ becomes available for your hardware you can map anything on the GUI to it…

    I wouldn’t pay more than $50…

    You can buy an SL1 for $250.

    Stay away from the Mackie Thumps. I’m glad I asked around before purchasing…

    I went with 2x QSC K12s and couldn’t be happier.

    How are you testing Serato Itch without the NS6 (or any other Itch controller for that matter)

    You can download and install serato itch for free, but you are not actually running ITCH at that point. This is just the offline player for track preparation / etc. I would not consider the ability to play a song in the offline player any indication of full compatibility with running Itch. I’m not trying to say that it won’t work, but just giving you a heads up.

    I made the jump from Mixtrack Pro to NS6 about a year ago and love it. Check out the Forums on http://www.serato.com about Serato Itch. Tons of issues with Windows…very few problems with MAC OS….

    +1 Hee Won Jung. This is exactly what I do. I think we’ve discussed this before.

    @G-Bee a few things…

    1) Do you refuse requests? Does this style of set prep. leave you no flexibility in the mix?

    2) You are getting ready to drop your hottest song of the night…and the dance floor is fairly empty…Do you play it anyway because ‘its next’ and will throw off the the rest of the set/routine if you don’t?

    These are shortcomings I encountered when first starting to play out with a fixed setlist which steered me to the groups of 3-5 song blocks as described above. I could then build/adapt the set in any particular order as the night progresses without constantly stressing about what song is going to be next. This allows me to pop a request in and then get right back on track without having my predetermined set sound like this (if even taking requests at all)

    Electro House Track
    Electro House Track
    Salt N Pepa – Push it (request)
    Electro House Track
    Electro House Track
    etc….

    This is all positive criticism by the way and my experiences in DJing thus far.

    Take a listen to my 2 hour live recording from last night (a majority of the Latin tracks I dropped in were requests from this group of fly Spanish chicks who kept the dance floor moving all night.

    PS I don’t claim to be a super star DJ / effect / sample masher…but I have no problem with keeping the dance floor going. Song selection > 90% of DJing.

    CD Decks and controllers are not synonymous. Most CDJs (CD Decks) will not match the beats for you.

    On the other hand, most controllers have a SYNC button which can match the BPMs ( and even phase too) of two tracks, but you do not have to utilized this feature.

    @Clockwise.

    Yes. Serato Itch is pre-mapped 1:1 to whatever certified Hardware is plugged in.
    Very limited functionality can me mapped outside the given hardware.
