Virtual DJ 7.1
Virtual DJ 7.1: Just one new feature and a few bugfixes, as we wait for Virtual DJ 8 to hit primetime.

With Virtual DJ users still patiently awaiting Virtual DJ 8, today Atomix released Virtual DJ 7.1. It’s a more incremental upgrade, that contains only one headline new feature. It is now possible to have “cloud playlists” with a new function called CloudList (which only work with the online NetSearch feature). So you could, for instance, log on to your friend’s Virtual DJ at his house and access all your personal playlists, or create and share playlists with other DJs online.

Apart from that, many new DJ controllers are now natively supported – indeed, Virtual DJ 7.1 now supports 176 controllers natively without the need to find and install mappings yourself.

There are a few bugfixes: Some NetSearch video problems have been ironed out, HID/Midi controller performance overall has seen a hike in performance, and niggly UTF8 character display problems in ID3 tags have been ironed out. But for the big leaps, you’ll have to carry on waiting patiently for Virtual DJ 8…

• The upgrade as always is free for owners of the software and available now from the Virtual DJ website.
