Serato Remote
Serato Remote: Available as of today, with control over library, FX, cues, loops and samples in both Serato Scratch Live and Serato DJ.

In a flurry of announcements today, Serato has launched Serato Remote, an iPad remote control app (we’ve already got a full Serato Remote review for you here), and updates for Serato Scratch Live and Serato DJ that bring compatibility with the Pioneer CDJ-2000nexus (Serato Scratch Live), and the Numark N4 and Vestax Typhoon (Serato DJ). Serato DJ 1.2.1 updates the software to be compatible with the new Serato Remote iPad app, as well as bringing those extra controllers into the fray, and now also comes with 24 free samples from Loopmasters.

Meanwhile, Serato Scratch Live 2.5 also has compatibility with the iPad app, now too comes with those Loopmasters samples, and of course has the big one: Pioneer CDJ-2000nexus support, meaning no need for timecode. This CDJ-2000nexus compatibility also brings library, cue and loop control. SSL 2.5 also has also output Midi mapping for lighting, meaning you can make your LEDs behave properly when mapping external controllers. To get you going, Serato has provided some mapping presets.

For us, Serato Remote is the biggest news here, as potentially every user of Serato DJ or Serato Scratch Live software who owns an iPad could improve their DJing in any number of cool ways by using it – which is why we’ve got for you a full review of this, and a quick walkthrough video – go to our Serato Remote Review for all of that.

• Go to Serato’s website for more on Serato Scratch Live 2.5, Serato DJ 1.2.1, and of course Serato Remote.

What do you think is the biggest news among this flurry of announcements today? Are you a Typhoon or N4 user who’s been waiting patiently for Serato DJ? Maybe you’re already heading off to the App Store to buy Serato Remote? Let us know in the comments.
