  • in reply to: Allen & Heath Xone:DB4 – Still worth a purchase? #2447091

    My DB4 arrives sometime Monday.

I have been searching (software wise) for effects that I like, and never found any that seen to work for me.

being able to set frequency ranges that an effect works with on the DB4 is what I think I am missing.

and it is hard to recreate in Ableton live.
using effects in live, for producing you apply to separate lines and it works.

so frequency ranges allow parts to be set instead of ruining the entire audio in.

I’ve seen them exhibit at BPM and looks like they will be there this year as usual.

    I’d ditch the BCD 3000

Based on my experience of one back before I invested in my Allen&Heath 4D back in 2008, the build quality is rubbish. One of the jogs (left I think it was) was grinding upon usage.

plus the fact it isnt a proper full soundcard in it… all it does is use the internal mixer of the sofatware you use on the computer.

It consumes more computer CPU than an external mixer based controller.

Have you got a tablet that you can use as a controller using TouchOSC?
although that would need an external soundcard.

might be better if you can to look at hiring or borrowing some hardware from someone / somewhere?

till you can make an investment in something that is better.
unless you make a quick purchase, but taking the time to consider the options is best.

I did think of just getting some foam, and filling in the space around the 2i2 so it will fit the audio 10 case.
but have it removable so that I can still use it for either soundcard.

I wont need to take both together.

I dont use both at the same time at home.
audio 10 is for DJing and live sets and the 2i2 is for producing due to the better amps and controls for the outputs.

the audio 10 was killing his powered speakers with no way to lower the signal being input to them.
and the headphone output has enough amp to run with an input of around -6db as that is what you produce a track to with gain structure

just to take it where I’m having production tuition and BPM next month.

I have a UDG case for my native instruments audio 10.
edit… looks like they dont sell that case anymore.
this is the same type of case:

    similar case would be ideal.

I’d just be putting it in my rucksack.

    gumtree ?

I bought my pair of used Technics 1200mk2 through gumtree

only paid £410 GBP for the pair.

they only have wear where you rest your wrist when using the pitch fader.
the only other thing was they needed calibrating.

    traktor bible, DJ tech tools

I’m not sure of compatibility with more recent versions of Traktor:

start your own night but in another venue yourself?
(not sure on the legal side of things though)
maybe consider live broadcasting online, to relieve your frustration.
    eg. Mixify.com twitch.tv chew.tv
