Marco SoloParticipant
What you could do is let it change the first effect based on wether the effect is single or group. So you’d have a condition that said if fx unit 1 is single, change fx1 to delay for instance.
Marco SoloParticipantChristmas songs? Not in a million years.

But anyway… You don’t need to add let’s say a reverb to every track, just add it on top and alter the send/return per track. This uses a lot less cpu and keeps the latency down.
Marco SoloParticipantDamn, the spaces didn’t come through. Read it like this: Chemical Brothers is under Electronica and soft and hard are under House. EDM and Rock are the two highest folders.
Marco SoloParticipantI have a folder structure like this (by the way, I’ve used this since the time when EDM still meant electronic dance music):
-EDM
>Breaks
>Electronica
>Chemical Brothers
>Hardcore
>House
>Soft
>Hard
-Rock
>Led Zeppelin
>Muse
>Porcupine TreeI’ve used this since the days of my iRiver H120 mp3 player. So I have folders of genres with folders in them of subgenres and when I have a lot of tracks from one artist I put that in another folder. This means there are a lot of folders, but I’m able to find anything I want without using the amazingly slow search function in windows. If I have 400 tracks or more in one folder, it’s time to create another subfolder in my book. I don’t tend to create artist folders for electronic dance music as it tends to create duplicates. I’d rather create subgenres instead.
But don’t spend too much time thinking about these things. Just try something. If it doesn’t work, ditch it. It’s that simple. I didn’t think of my system in a day, it simply grew over multiple years.
Marco SoloParticipantIf you’re looking at entry level gear for Traktor and want to use remix decks you’re better off with an S2.
Marco SoloParticipantWhy not go modular then? The new akai mixer and effect controllers seem pretty good.
Marco SoloParticipantGo with what you want to do, not what everybody else does. If you like DJay and it does everything you want, I wouldn’t see any need to switch. Forget those haters, they are just insecure about their own capabilities. If you do miss things in DJay, specify those and we can help you further.
Marco SoloParticipantSorry, mixed up two topics. Forget the thing about DJay, is there any hardware you do like?
Marco SoloParticipantIs there any hardware you do like? Maybe you can use that with DJay?
Marco SoloParticipantWell, if you like the clean look, Serato will be more up your street I think. It does most of the things for you and has a minimalistic look. Mapping is pretty self explanatory and the audio routing is done automatically. With Traktor you can pretty much set up everything you want, just the way you want. Some people like this (like me!), but some think it’s a bit overwhelming.
Marco SoloParticipantWhat do you like about DJay?
Marco SoloParticipantThe VCI-400 would be a contender IMO. Pretty small footprint, good pads, better VU meter than the SR and built like a tank. Or the Numark NV if you’re into gimmicky stuff. Or if you’re more into mobile DJ stuff, the Denon MC6000 Mk2.
All of these will work with Serato DJ.Marco SoloParticipantAlright, I stand corrected.
Marco SoloParticipantNo Terry it’s not limited to the S4, you can’t even use it with DVS…
For Traktor you’ll either need a certified mixer (Z2, some Pioneer ones, etc) or a certified soundcard (audio 6, audio 10) to use DVS. Are you really using Scratch Duo? That’s pretty old software.
With Serato you have indeed more options. Cross DJ can also do DVS and you can use pretty much any DVS hardware with it. -
