Marco SoloParticipant
Are you using Serato DJ intro? If so, you can’t record inside Serato. You can if you use the full version. But don’t worry, there are lots of free programs that let you record the sound of the computer. Just google for something like “record audio [insert mac or windows here]” and you’ll find something.
Marco SoloParticipantOr some funk (Fred Wesley) and a bit of soulful house (Detroit Swindle).
Marco SoloParticipantI went from the Pro II to an SR, it’s very much an upgrade. The Pro II only comes with Serato DJ Intro, but the SR literally has a Serato DJ license in it. That does mean you won’t be able to use the full Serato DJ with your Mixtrack unless you plug in your SR.
Plus, the feel is just so much better. All knobs have metal posts under them, the faceplace is metal, the pads are velocity sensitive, etc, etc.Marco SoloParticipantYes, you can mix in just your headphones. Handy when you’ve got thin walls and neighbours next to each of them.
Marco SoloParticipantYou’d have to specify what is limiting at the moment. If you can’t, there’s probably no need to upgrade your gear.
Marco SoloParticipantYou need double drivers for djing with in-ears, so that eliminates the 1500’s outright. Have a look at the Shure ones, they are awesome. DJing with in-ears can be good (crisp sound, less strain on your hearing), provided that you keep them in a normal volume, otherwise you’re only making things worse. I find them pretty much useless as I like to walk around every once in a while and disconnecting myself every time I go more than two meters from the set is really annoying. I use normal headphones with earplugs.
Marco SoloParticipantSoulful House, Nu-Jazz, Jackin’ House… Most of the stuff on Traxsource really. Don’t limit yourself to Beatport.
Marco SoloParticipantGet some free training from Coursera and the likes. Don’t reinvent the wheel.

Lots of good mappings are available for the launchpad, I’m not sure about the Hercules.Marco SoloParticipantYou forgot the most important bit of info. What you’re going to do with it. Four to the floor 128 bpm EDM can be done with anything (keyboard, mouse, sync, done!), but if you’re looking to scratch or actually mix difficult styles like hiphop you need something else.
Marco SoloParticipantIt’s really simple. Anything below 100Hz only gets sent to the sub and the sub will only play up to 120Hz.
Marco SoloParticipantWhy not get an S2 instead? Do you really need four channels? I hardly ever use more than two and the third usually has a simple sample anyway, so that can be done via the pads. You’re really spending an aweful lot of money on something you’ll only use recreational.
Marco SoloParticipantWell, alright. A Numark Mixtrack (Pro) II, Reloop Beatmix 2 then? Waaay cheaper and good enough for recreational use. Plus, the S4 is poorly built. I’ve seen one only a few years old and it was completely shot. Those small, round buttons will jam on before long.
Marco SoloParticipantHow about something simpler? Like a Behringer CMD Studio 4A or something?
Marco SoloParticipantYou can’t set a record out in Serato. Neither in the intro nor the full version. All audio routing is done automatically.
